XII Sunday in Ordinary Time June 19/16

My sheep hear my voice, says the Lord; I know them, and they follow me.

Each  day  brings  its  own  share  of  trials  and difficul es and the gospel states that we only give  proper  recogni on  to  Christ  when  we are prepared to follow the path of pain, sor‐row  and  distress  that  comes  in  our  way.  Suffering  and  the  cross  present  us  with  a problem,  because  they  go  against  the  grain of life.  We all want ease, comfort and luxury.  Most of us are quite willing to follow Christ,

but when trouble comes our way we are  forced to realize that we cannot have Chris anity without tears.  The cross and suffer‐ing  stand  fair  and  square  in  the  centre  of  life  and  they  are  a great mystery.  We find the cross everywhere in life, and do not have  to  go  searching  for  it.    It’s  already  on  our  shoulders  in parenthood, unemployment,  in  the  loss of  life’s partner,  in  the death of a child and in the pain of a family member.  All we need to  do  is  to  carry  it willingly  by  offering  up  our  daily  sufferings with those of Christ.  One of the paradoxes of the gospel is that life comes from death.    YEAR OF MERCY Parish Journal This book is available to be viewed and used by our parishioners during this month. Those who wish to share any personal examples, actions or events are encouraged to write a few lines. No names are required.
