ADULT AND YOUTH

TRUSTEES

Hello my dear parents! As we journey together through the days of Lenten preparation to the risen Lord in Easter, the book of Sirach is helping us discern changes you and I can make to better serve God, the Church, and others.

Let’s examine two important points in chapter 5 today. It’s found on page 923 of the Parish bible. Read with me the first two verses. Think about words or phrases that catch your attention. Now let’s reread the verses again. What is the wisdom you see here? How do you feel about money? Is it your security apart from all else? Money can never replace God, and yet, for many it has. How do you and I spend our energy? In acquiring more things? Are we willing to give up valuable time with our families, our Church, or people in the community who need us in order to buy more things? What folly! God is our stronghold. Possessions and money CAN-NOT replace the need for God in our lives. As Catholics, we have vowed to do HIS will and put our own needs and desires SECOND. Our employment, activities, vacations, and the like cannot interfere with our greatest need: to personally encounter our Creator every Sunday in the Eucharist.

Read with me now verses 4 to 7. Read them slowly and

deliberately. Now read them again. What is God telling us in these

verses? What stands out to you? One of the precepts of the Catho-

lic Church is that you and I will confess our sins AT LEAST once a

year, if not once a month. If it has been much time for you since

your last confession, how do reading these verses make you feel?

Can you hear God calling you to repentance? God wants to offer

you mercy and help you with your burdens in life, but you and have

have to come close to him in the sacrament of reconciliation to ac-

cept it. Our sins pile up, don’t let sin overtake you! Vs 7: “Come

back to the lord quickly.

ST. ANTHONY CATHOLIC SCHOOL INFORMATION

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AT DIOCESE OF DES MOINES SCHOOLS

What is Early Childhood Education (ECE)? Early Childhood Education (ECE) is a continuum of programs, services, and classes designed to support brain development, cognitive function and the social-emotional growth of children ages 3-5 (before they begin kindergarten). The Diocese of Des Moines Catholic Schools offer a full continuum of ECE classes. We offer full-day Preschool (3-year-olds), Pre-Kindergarten (4-year-olds), Transitional Kindergarten (5-year-olds not yet ready for kindergarten), and Extended Care (care provided before the school day begins and after the school day ends). Our ECE curriculum is aligned with Iowa Common Core and our K-12 school curriculum. Coursework includes faith-formation, academic growth, social skills development, and enrichment activities like art, PE, library and computer classes. Our focus on literacy development helps ensure students are at or above grade level across all disciplines by third grade.
