amazing music – books – conversation
2 St Andrew’s and St George’s West at Festival Time 6-24 August 2012 www.standrewsandstgeorgeswest.org.uk
Welcome to our programme for 2012. With our George Street building being closed for refurbishment, we will be running our music programme with many regulars and some newcomers in the Royal Overseas League building at 100 Princes Street and at St Cuthbert’s Parish Church in Lothian Road. Both are established Fringe venues not too far from our usual home in George Street. Both have good public transport links and disabled access. We will also be running a couple events on the Fringe of the Book Festival at Andrew’s and St George’s West (Shandwick Place Building) at 58 Shandwick Place.
Our music programme this year includes a wide range of different genres of music.
World music Music from Scotland, China and the USA ensures a good cultural mix.
Jazz and Big Band Two big bands and a saxophone quartet provide the jazz and swing elements.
Opera and music theatre Local music theatre groups, who perform regularly with us, bring a selection of songs from the shows, and Opera Bohemia return with Madame Butterfly.
Instrumental recitals Solo piano, cello and guitar recitals show off the virtuosity of these instruments and the piano combines with violin or flute to present exciting programmes.
Song recitals Song is provided by a chamber group new to us, an exciting new soprano from Malta and some of our regular performers.
We hope that you enjoy our programme and that we can welcome you to one of our venues.

St Andrew’s and St George’s West
This festival is planned and staffed by volunteers
from St Andrew’s and St George’s West with a bit of
paid student help.
It’s part of a year-round programme of activities at St
Andrew’s and St George’s West, a city centre church
in Edinburgh whose parish encompasses the New
Town and West End of this fantastic city.
If you have come to our festival before you will know
that it’s usually held in our Georgian church at 13
George Street. We’re sorry that’s closed for
refurbishment at the moment. However in 2013 it
will be sparkling and open again as a busy working
