Good stewards are like the industrious and reliable servants in today’s Gospel, prudently using and multiplying the gifts entrusted to them by God.

Ministry gathers us and makes us a faith family...

SHARING OUR GIFTS - Autumn is the season for harvesting and sharing the fruits of our labors. This week's scriptures use images of the harvest, family life, pregnancy, and investment to describe the abundant harvest in the reign of God. We discover that sharing the gifts we have been given brings eternal rewards for everyone. In the Gospel parable a master entrusts his possessions to three servants before going on a journey. Each is given some talents. What they do with those talents determines what the master will do with them when he returns. How about us? What are we doing with our talents? How will our Master treat us when he returns? Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Celebrating Our Faith Next Week ~ Saturday, November 25th / Sunday, November 26th, 2017

Solemnity of our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

WE ENCOURAGE ALL TO READ AND REFLECT ON THE BIBLICAL PASSAGES THAT WILL BE PROCLAIMED

AT ALL THE MASSES NEXT WEEK

First Reading -- I will rescue my scattered sheep (Ezekiel 34:11-12, 15-17). Psalm -- The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want (Psalm 23). Second Reading -- As in Adam all die, so too in Christ all shall be brought to life (1 Corinthians 15:20-26, 28). Gospel -- Whatever you did to the least ones, you did to me (Matthew 25:31-46).

CONFESSIONS: CONFESSIONS: WEDNESDAY, 6:15 TO 6:45 PM WEDNESDAY, 6:15 TO 6:45 PM

And And SATURDAY SATURDAY 3:30 TO 5 PM

Masses: Sat: 5:30 PM. Sun: 7:30 AM. Sun: 9:00 AM. Sun: 10:30 AM. Sun: 12:00 NN. Sun: 7:30 PM.

Celebrants: Fr. Semik Msgr. Vadakin Msgr. Cox Fr. Semik Fr. Semik Msgr. Cox

To Receive Holy Communion (For those who are sick, hospitalized, or home bound). Please call Gloria Bowen, Eucharistic Minister to the sick at 310-670-5971. The Family Visitation Ministry offers spiritual support to those in need. Please call Sr. Teresita @ 310-216-2001, or the Church Office @ 310-670-2243.

FOCUS: Nearing the end of the liturgical year, our attention turns to our vigilant and prayerful preparation for the return of Christ in glory.

Life is perhaps best described as a journey with a begin-ning and an end. As we come to the end of another Church year, we are invited to reflect on what is often referred to as the last things— judgment, heaven and hell. But we do so not in fear but in hope, for while our earthly lives will end, the promise of life eternal shines forth in Christ.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

The first reading from Proverbs reminds us that having a loving and faithful spouse is a gift from God. The second reading exhorts us to be vigilant for the return of Christ. The Gospel tells us we must each give an account of how we have used the

gifts God has given us for the greater good of the Kingdom.

Reflections on Today’s Readings:

PLEASE NOTE: ♦ The Church is OPEN Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 6 AM—6 PM (closing time). ♦ On Wednesdays, Divine Mercy is from 6-7 pm. There is Confession from 6:15-6:45 pm. (During Devotion). Church will be closed at 7 pm. (ONLY ON THIS DAY!) ♦ The Church will be CLOSED on Saturdays after the 5:30 Mass. ♦ The Church will be CLOSED on Sundays after the 7:30 PM evening Mass.

Parish Office Hours: The Parish Office is OPEN Monday through Friday; from 8:30 am to 4 pm. Phone hours are: 9 am to 3 pm—310-670-2243. You may also email your questions, concerns, information, etc., to: [email protected].

FACT OF LIFEFACT OF LIFEFACT OF LIFE Traditional Marriage and Family

Health/Well Being

"A consistent and irrefutable mountain of research, reaching back to the 1970's, that marriage strongly boosts every important measure of well-being for children, women, and men. Pick any measure you can imagine: overall physical and mental health, income, savings, employment, etc., compared to single, divorce, or cohabiting peers, married people do much better. That's why it's not just one-parent versus two-parent families that makes the difference. The U.S. Census Bureau finds the poverty rate for children living with two unmarried cohabiting parents is similar to that of single-mother homes than to those living with their married mother and father." The Federalist as quoted in "Five Things to Know" an L.A. Archdiocese Publication

Last month, we had our annual Parish Picnic for the school and parishioners. Boy, was it fun, and hot! There were more than 300 people in attendance, with multiple bouncies for the kids, and group games. A few weeks ago, several school dads ran in a Tough Mudder event, a muddy run filled with obstacles. Next year, it would be great to have a bigger group of our St. Anastasia families in attendance. It’s a great day out, and it brings everyone together! Speaking of running, congratulations on a very successful Jog-A-Thon. THANKS to Denise Gustafson and Jennifer Garmon (Chairs) for months of planning and hard work, along with their outstanding Jog-A-Thon committee: Claudia Arteaga, Ann Correnti, Angela DeVoe, Ninneth Martinez, Katrina Ross, Jennifer Walter, and Becca Zambotti. What a successful and great time for all our students and school! I was roaming the halls in front of the school’s central office recently, and noticed the long list of students who are attending college from St. Anastasia: Congrats to those parents, students, and teachers. Did you know we have socks, hats, and chairs for sale? We have a little supply left, so instead of buying elsewhere…email me below. If you have ideas for future articles, or just want to drop me a line, the Bridge to Bridge will be open to your ideas. Have a great day! Patrick Monahan

Kids Living Faith: Sunday, November 19th, 2017 33rd Sunday In Ordinary Time

For all of you are children of the light and children of the day. - 1 Thess 5:5

Have you ever tried to find something in a dark room? It’s difficult, isn’t? Maybe you bumped your knee or tripped and fell. Jesus was born into a world that was like a gigantic dark room with no windows and no other way out. People had turned away from God’s laws and were lost in the darkness of sin. Jesus is the light of the world. We who follow Him are His children. With Jesus, we will always find our way to light and life.

Dear Jesus, light my way to heaven.

Online Grooming - Learning all we can about how predators groom children through online contact is key to keeping them safe at

all times. Language is a predator’s tool for grooming online. One tactic that online predators use to groom a potential victim is by complimenting and reinforcing their self-image as a way of normalizing their interactions. Compliments are used to build trust, desensitize, and mentally or emotionally isolate the potential victim from others. It is important to remember that monitoring the online communication of young people on chats, apps, gaming websites, etc. is key in preventing abuse. For a copy of the VIRTUS® article “The Language of Online Grooming,” visit: http://www.la-archdiocese.org/org/protecting/Pages/VIRTUS-Current-Online-Articles.aspx or call (213) 637-7508.
