Dear Parishioners,
The prominent figure in this Sunday scripture is John the Baptist, an example of testimony, humility, service, fidelity to God, a man of prayer and model for religious vocations.
Testimony: not just in his words but with his life, preaching justice and living the Gospel values; today more than ever a secularized world needs our deeds, and if we synchronize our faith with our life, only that will convince and make the difference.
Humility: especially when he says: It is necessary that I decrease and Jesus increase in my life, taking away our egocentrism and giving priority to God in our lives, acknowledging he Is our Lord we are his serv-ants.
Service: I am not worthy to untie his sandals, as Je-sus did at the last supper saying: I did not come to be served but to serve, only in service our lives recover sense in this world.
Fidelity: even to die giving testimony for the Gospel and to convince the world, how sublime this message is, showing real love to God, participation in martyr-dom imitating Jesus’s life.
Man of prayer: He dedicated his life to God being hidden to the world but known by God in the desert. In a deep encounter with God remembering the years the people of Israel were in the desert, meditating on his mercy and mighty deeds.
He decided to Live in the desert, the place where there is silence but also sacrifice, where there is no distraction, where is appropriate environment to pray, an excellent place to have encounter with God.
He is a model for advent: A man determined to serve God in word and deed and giving everything even his life, giving testimony of the Lamb of God, who takes way the sins of the world, who came to destroy evil and grant us peace and joy in our
hearts in every Christmas we celebrate.

Think Green Christmas According to Andy Williams, it’s “the most wonderful
time of year.” But unless it’s a Green Christmas it will
be the most wasteful, consumer-driven and stressful
“time of year.” With a family discussion some celebra-
tions can become more eco-friendly!
How about sending e-card, using recycla-
ble wrapping, shopping locally and using
your St. Aloysius Green Bag!! Many
more suggestions when you google
“Green Christmas”.
