ST-43113 1. Site Location:
90 Joseph Road CORINELLA
2. Client:
Ashley Joseph
3. Construction Proposal:
Residential dwelling.
4. Site Description:
The site is located in an established residential area, has a slight slope to the front left hand side and is currently covered natural grass.
5. Geology:
The site is situated within a geological area o f Older Volcanic, Sedimentary, Igneous, Extensive. The site investigation confirmed this.
6. Site Investigation:
Geocore was commissioned to undertake limited testing to classify the site strictly in accordance with Section 2 o f AS2870-2011 Residential Slabs and Footings.
Two boreholes were drilled by hand auger at the proposed residential location. The attached borehole log shows layer descriptions and depths.
7. Soil Profile:
The boreholes revealed a soil profile consisting o f the following:
• 500mm to 700mm o f Brown/Grey Sandy SILT overlying • Brown/Grey/Orange Silty CLAY

ST-43113 8. Site Classification:
a. Classification: The site is classified in accordance with Section 2 from 'AS 2870- 2011 Residential Slabs and Footings — Construction' as a Class M (Moderately Reactive Site). This classification was determined after taking into account the soil profile encountered, the geology o f the site and the climatic zone o f the area.
b. Earthworks: Note this classification may change i f the site is subject to earthworks. As a guide, no uncontrolled fill greater than 600mm for SAND' and 300mm for other material should be placed. Geocore should be notified if this occurs and the site should be reassessed and this report possibly reviewed and amended.
Note: Load bearing edge beams and any load bearing internal beams are to be founded through any new material and into the soil layers recommended in this report.
c. Movement: It should be noted that the classification assumes potential differential surface soil seasonal movements o f up to 40mm could be expected. Where trees or the removal o f buildings influence the site, the movement will be increased.
d. Abnormal moisture conditions: The site should not be subject to abnormal moisture conditions.
e. Articulation Joints: For articulation joint spacings, refer to 'Cement, Concrete and Aggregates Association — Technical Note 61 — Table 2'.
9. Site Drainage:
No perched water table or ground water was encountered in the boreholes.

10. Recommended Foundation Depths for Slab Floor Construction:
10.1 On a Class M site it is recommended that the edge beams be founded a minimum of 100mm into the natural Brown/Grey Sandy SILT. The bearing capacity o f Sandy SILT can be assumed to be 80kPa at this depth.
NOTE: Internal/stiffening beams maybe founded on soil with 50kPa bearing capacity, e.g. rolled fill.
10.2 Any organic matter or rubbish should be removed from under the proposed slab to a depth o f not less than 100mm and replaced with levelling fill.
10.3 Where any footings are to be constructed next to existing underground services (e.g. stormwater, sewers), then these footings should be founded at a depth above the invert o f the service at an angle of repose of 45° for CLAY and 30° for SANDS.
11. Recommended Foundation Depths for a Strip and Stump Footing System:
For a 'Class M' Site it is recommended that all strips and stumps be founded down a minimum o f 525mm and 500mm below finished ground level respectively. The footings must also be founded a minimum o f 100mm into the Brown/Grey/Orange Silty CLAY. The allowable bearing capacity o f the Silty CLAY can be assumed to be 100kPa at this depth.
12. Recommended Foundation Depths for Waffle Pod Slab Construction:
It is recommended that the slab edge beams be founded directly on the Brown/Grey Sandy SILT. The allowable bearing capacity of the Sandy SILT can be assumed to be 60kPa at the surface.
13. Recommended Foundation Depths for Pier/Pile Footings:
It is recommended that all pier/pile footings be founded a minimum o f 1000mm into the Brown/Grey/Orange Silty CLAY. The allowable end bearing capacity o f the Silty CLAY can be assumed to be 200kPa with an allowable skin friction o f 20kPa.
14. Trees:
There were no trees found at the time of the investigation that could cause abnormal moisture conditions.

ST-43113 16. Conditions o f Report and Limitations:
16.1 The descriptions o f the soils found follows those listed in AS1726-2017 (Geotechnical Site Investigations) although colour descriptions can vary with soil moisture content and/or individual interpretation.
16.2 The recommendations made in this report may require review i f any site works take place and disturb any soil within 200mm o f founding depths.
16.3 Any earthworks conducted on the site will change the recommended founding depths. If the site is levelled by cut, then the founding depths are the minimum specified. If levelling fill is placed then the recommended founding depths increase accordingly unless the till depths are greater than those listed in Clause 8.2 then another site assessment is required.
16.4 Where fill is to be placed the footing founding depths recommended will need to be increased accordingly by the depth o f fill unless one o f the following occurs:
16.4.1 The base o f the footing is founded in the natural undisturbed Brown/Grey/Orange Silty CLAY.
16.4.2 The FILL has been placed under controlled conditions and compacted to a minimum o f 95% o f AS1289 5.1.1 (Standard Compaction). I f this is the case then Geocore should be called for an additional site inspection after filling and a revision o f this report may be required.
16.5 It should be noted that this company has only been commissioned to undertake limited boreholes, variations in the soil profile may exist. As such, it is recommended that the information given in this report be used as an 'approximate guide only' in determining costs associated with footing construction.
16.6 Any variations in the soil profile that are encountered at the time o f construction, which may involve significant alterations to the footings, must be notified to this company as soon as possible with all construction work being stopped immediately. I f this situation arises or any significant earthworks are proposed or undertaken, then this report will need to be reviewed and, if appropriate, amended.
16.7 Geocore expects that any relevant site information (e.g. previous filling, water courses) has been investigated by the client and this information passed on to Geocore. Consequently, Geocore reserves the right to amend this report upon receipt o f such information or for any o f the reasons listed above. In the event o f an amended report for these reasons, Geocore will not accept responsibility for any subsequent financial loss.
16.8 The maintenance o f the building foundations is the owner's responsibility and their attention should be drawn to the CSIRO information sheet named 'Guide to home owners on foundation maintenance and footing performance'.
16.9 On clay sites, Geocore recommends the slab and superstructure be designed to account for the assumed seasonal movement.

PER-1978 11. Suitable Disposable Area:
A suitable area for disposal through shallow sub-surface absorption trenches or irrigation exists on the lower south-east corner o f the lot.
The existing dam is more than 60metres away from the proposed effluent field.
12. Recommendations:
Geocore recommends and can validate the use o f a primary or secondary treatment septic system that uses shallow sub-surface absorption or irrigation treating and maintaining wastewater within the site.
NOTE: The recommendations outlined in this report are subject to Council planning approval.
Vegetation should be maintained around the disposal field at all times.
