FOREWORD
1. This Standard Schedule of Rates Part II 2010 replaces Standard Schedule of Rates 2004(Part II). It is a very important document, which is used not only in MES but also referred to bya large number of Departments.
2. Besides updating the existing rates six new chapters pertaining to utility services havebeen added, in conformity with SSR Part I (2009), to make the SSR comprehensive andexhaustive.
3. This publication is in user friendly format and will be very useful to all those associatedwith preparation of estimates, making of contract documents, execution of works and paymentof bills. I am sanguine, it will guide all executives and staff in achieving improved standards ofworking.

1. The Standard Schedule of Rates - Part II Rates, (SSR Part- II) was last revised in 2004.SSR Part II is applicable to all MES formations spread across the length and breadth of theCountry. Task for revision was initiated during Aug 2008 and services of a number ofexperienced Officers have been utilized for its compilation who have endeavoured to put intheir best both in terms of efforts and skills. The colossal task involved did not only pertain toupdating the existing rates, but also to incorporate the provisions contained in SSR Part I (2009),which have come into effect from 15 Sep 2009. The work has been completed and publicationis being issued as SSR Part II, 2010.
2. The documents would be useful to the engineers fraternity, which is associated withpreparation of estimates, making of contracts, execution of works and financial closure. Despitetaking adequate care in preparation of this treatise, some errors may have crept in. In case anyomission(s) is noticed, it may be brought to the notice of Joint Director General (Contracts),Military Engineer Services, Engineer-in-Chief's Branch, Integrated HQ of Ministry of Defence(Army), Kashmir House, Rajaji Marg, New Delhi - 110011 for correction/updation.
3. We would welcome suggestions for improvement and modification.
