THIS AREA WILL BE SMOKE TESTED WITHIN THE 24 – 48 HOURS

NOTICE

STANTEC, A CONSULTANT FOR THE CITY OF TOLEDO, WILL SOON BE SMOKE TESTING THE SANITARY SEWERS IN THIS AREA. SEWERS WILL BE FILLED WITH SMOKE TO DETECT LOCATIONS WHERE THE RAIN WATER IS ENTERING THE SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM.

TO PREVENT SMOKE FROM ENTERING YOUR BUILDING THROUGH THE PLUMBING, MAKE SURE THE DRAIN TRAPS ARE FULL OF WATER. TO DO THIS, POUR AT LEAST ONE GALLON OF WATER DOWN FLOOR DRAINS, BASEMENT SINKS AND DRAINS, AND ANY OTHER SELDOM USED DRAIN. IF, DUE TO FREQUENT SEWAGE ODORS, YOU BELIEVE THAT YOUR BASEMENT DRAINS MAY NOT BE TRAPPED, PLACE A FOLDED WET TOWEL OVER THE DRAIN. THE SMOKE USED IS WHITE WITH A SLIGHT ODOR AND IS NON-COMBUSTIBLE.

IF SMOKE ENTERS YOUR HOUSE, PLEASE OPEN YOUR WINDOWS AND DOORS AND CONTACT THE LOCAL STANTEC OFFICES AT (419) 867-6666, AND A PROJECT REPRESENTATIVE WILL BE DISPATCHED TO INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM. RESIDENTS WITH RESPIRATORY, PULMONARY, AND LUNGS DISORDERS SHOULD USE CAUTION AND TRY TO AVOID EXCESSIVE CONTACT WITH THE SMOKE.

STANTEC A CONSULTANT FOR THE CITY OF TOLEDO, WILL BE DYE TESTING THE DOWNSPOUTS AT THIS RESIDENCE WITHIN THE NEXT 24 TO 48 HOURS. THE DOWNSPOIUTS WILL BE FILLED WITH DYED WATER TO TRACE THE POINT OF DISCHARGE. TO PERFORM THESE EFFORTS, OUR STAFF WILL NEED TO GAIN ENTRY ONTO YOUR PROPERTY. WE WILL BE PLACING DYE INTO THE DOWNSPOUTS THROUGH A PLASTIC WAND THAT WILL REACH TO YOUR GUTTERS OR THROUGH A CONNECTION NEAR THE GROUND. THE DYE UTILIZED IS ODORLESS AND NON-TOXIC AND WILL WASH AWAY.

WE WILL NEED TO ENTER YOUR PROPERTY TO PERFORM THIS SERVICE. WE APPRECIATE YOUR COOPERATION BY ALLOWING OUR STAFF ACCESS TO THE PROPERTY, INCLUDING THE LEASHING AND/OR CONTROL OF PETS.

• Return the questionnaires that were mailed• Allow clear access onto your properties for field crews,

including rear yards and fenced areas – this includes leashing pets – some sewers are in back yards and alleys

• Follow the instructions on the door hangers – water in traps & drains

• Sign in on the sheets at the doors and provide us with comments

• Please be patient• The more assistance we receive from public, the better the

results of the project will be for the City and you, its customers
