Hello Sea Pines!
As we enter into September I am
happy to say goodbye to the HOT hu-
mid summer days and hurricane sea-
son. We now look forward to the re-
turn of the snowbirds and cooler tem-
peratures in the coming months. Sea
Pines is looking great with two new
homes under construction in the Pre-
serves section and I have noticed a
great deal of home improvement ac-
tivity all over.
I write this as we prepare for hurri-
cane Dorian and another heavy dose
of rain. It reminds me that we have
experienced above average rainfall
recently and that Sea Pines has some
storm water run-off issues that need
to be resolved, especially in the
Woodlands area. I want to give a Big
Thanks to Ernie for cleaning out the
drainage pipes in Sea Pines before
hurricane Dorian reached Hudson.
Some of them were completely
clogged and not functional. Based on
what I see in the local news, hurri-
cane Dorian has motivated Pasco
County to attend to storm water is-
sues around the county and we need
to get their attention to fix our prob-
lems. The SPCA board has tried vig-
orously to get Pasco County to ad-
dress the issue but nothing has come
of it. So, I ask you to contact the
commissioners by phone and email
(countycommissioners@pascocountyF
L.net), and the local news to put
some light on our situation. Our resi-
dents should not have to drive over
flooded roads to get to their home.
As I have noted in the past, the SPCA
board and I are working to generate
more interest in the establishment of
social clubs and activities. I am hearing
interest from some residents about
starting new clubs. This is great!
Please contact me if you have interest,
or even better, if you would like to start
a club. The SPCA can help support
your endeavor by advertising in the Sea
Pines Newsletter and website.
Recently I have received questions by
some of our residents about Pasco Coun-
ty codes for various things such as put-
ting up fences, building codes and
parked vehicles. You can look up the
specific ordinance on the county website
(https://www.pascocountyfl.net/392/Cod
es-Ordinances). For your convenience, I
have compiled the most relevant county
ordinances that pertain to residential
properties and placed this document on
our new website (www.seapines-fl.com)
in the SPCA page. Please take a look.
Reminder – If you are putting your boat
in at the Sea Pines ramp and have a
fishing tower, DO NOT drive down Ma-
ko, instead come in to the ramp en-
trance from Yachtsman Drive. There
are low hanging cable lines across Mako
that are being clipped and it is costing
residents to get them fixed. Thanks!
Remember to mark your calendar for
the upcoming SPCA General meeting on
September 18th.
Have a great September!
Randy

The Pasco Sheriff’s Office and the Pasco
County School Board began a fundraising
drive last year for a new initiative called Stop
the Bleed. Last year’s shooting at Marjory
Stoneman Douglass High School in Parkland,
Florida once again starkly showed the need
for training and resources to be available in
shootings and other mass casualty incidents.
Right here in our agency, one of our K9 depu-
ties recently received a life-threatening gun-
shot wound to his leg where a tourniquet was
quickly applied that probably saved his life.
The Stop the Bleed campaign is a national ini-
tiative, which aims to train and empower ci-
vilians to act swiftly and effectively in trauma
situations, like active shooter incidents.
Training is provided by medical personnel
who are experts in the initial stages of trauma
management and is tailored to teach quick,
life-saving measures that can be provided to
anybody in the event of an emergency.
As part of this campaign, each Pasco County
school will be provided with three LIFE™ Sta-
tions containing five trauma kits in each. The
Life Stations will be placed in strategic loca-
tions to be rapidly accessed in an emergency,
such as an active shooter situation. The initial
costs for all of the quality, long-lasting kits
needed is $250,000. These stations also in-
clude one casualty extraction litter housed in
the LIFE Pack, along with other important
items that can assist in saving lives, such as:
• 1 Fold-out Product Instruction
• 2 Pair Nitrile Gloves (Latex Free)
• 1 Emergency Scissors
• 1 Tourniquet
• 1 Blood clotting Hemostatic Dressing
• 1 Compressed Gauze
• 1 Trauma Bandage
• 1 Chest Seal (twin pack)
The LIFE™ Station container is a surface-
mounted storage cabinet meant to be located
in publicly-accessible areas, much like AEDs
inside schools, offices, and other buildings.
The LIFE™ Station is identical to traditional
AED cabinets, but specifically designed to
house a LIFE™ Pack.
Thanks to the partnership with Mike Fasano
and the Pasco Tax Collectors Office, Regional
Medical Center Bayonet Point and our own
Pasco Sheriff’s Charities, we have raised
enough money to put one life station in every
high school by the start of this school year.
Members from our Pasco Sheriff’s Explorer
program assisted in recording a brief training
video that will be played in every high school
informing students and staff about the
LIFE™ kits and how to use them.

ative, please visit www.BleedingControl.org
