Spend a summer having fun with us, and shoot up on your SATs!The Socratic Summer Academy was founded in 2010. Its a three-week sleepaway summer camp aimed at improvement on the SATs. Every year, using our carefully tailored curriculum and in-house textbook, in conjunction with College Board prep materials, our students see extraordinary score improvements - and have the summer of a lifetime.Weve established a track record of 400 point score improvements (over a 3-week period!) for students who had never studied the SAT. Last year, our students increased their scores 36 percentile points - and thats just the average!

Extraordinary, Caring Master TeachersOur master teachers all have plenty of experience teaching the SAT. They come from Harvard, Brown, Stanford, Columbia, Johns Hopkins, Amherst, Haverford, Middlebury, UC Berkeley, McGill, and Wesleyan - great schools, but what they really bring to the table is their dedication to educating and mentoring. Our primary hiring criteria are being creative and inspirational, inside and outside the classroom.

Our Strategies - What Sets Us ApartOne of our biggest strategies is game-ification - making strategies into games, using games to learn vocabulary, breaking the actual test down into pieces that form the evenings activity. In 2012, we eliminated homework (which sounds crazy) but replaced it with proctored work sessions, so kids were doing classwork with teachers around to help. Also, since there are 2 master teachers in a classroom and frequently 2 assistants on top of that, one-on-one teaching is really easy. Over the summer, each student receives over 150 hours of classroom teaching and unlimited one-on-one and small group sessions. And amazingly, it works.

Smores! Campfires Under the Stars! Dodgeball! Scavenger Hunts! Fun is a necessary component of the SSA Socratic Summer Academy. The great thing about it is that its not just an SAT boot camp - its also an amazing traditional summer camp experience - dodgeball, singalongs around the campfire, piano, and guitar, capture the flag, volleyball, scavenger hunts, story-based games, hikes in the wilderness. Its fun. The kids get dragged to camp kicking and screaming (eew! who wants to go to an SAT camp!) and then cry when its time to go home - they dont want to leave.

Camp Info:- Camp will begin Saturday, June 27, 2015, and end Saturday, July 18, 2015. We will be on Colgate Universitys campus in Hamilton, NY.- Tuition is comprehensive, including room, board, and book fees. No additional spending money is necessary.- We ask parents to send a 20% deposit to hold their childs spot uponregistration.- Full tuition is due no later than April 1, 2015. Space permitting, students may register after April 1, in which case they must send full tuition at the time of registration.

Ive been to camps for church, sports, and music, so before I came here I was scared that it would be

all study - but it turned out to be the best camp Ive been to! I would tell someone who isnt sure about SAT camp that if they want support and help, then they should come here.

Contact Us!Camp director Alyssa Bowlby has a masters degree from Johns Hopkins and a bachelors degree from Haverford College, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude. She has taught the SAT since 2006 as a private tutor, a classroom teacher, and, of course, a camp director.She personally answers all questions prospective students or parents have about our program. SSA went beyond my expectations. My kids got much more than just having their SAT scores improve. They made new friends, interacted with a diverse

group of students and people, and gained a lot more confidence. The teachers are

very learned; they know their stuff. Theyre very patient, understanding, and

welcoming, and they have the ability to meet a person where they are, as an individual, and draw the best out of them. I didnt think my kids would enjoy camp, but they really loved being around the group and the teachers. And they

improved so much on their SAT scores, it was definitely worth the investment!
