Sri Sri Radha Rasabihariji APPEARANCE DAY CELEBRATIONS OF THE MOST MERCIFUL LORD CAITANYA
One of the most merciful events of the year – Gaura Purnima was celebrated on 16 March 2014. Gaura Purnima is the
appearance day of Lord Caitanya, an incarnation of Lord Krishna, who appeared 500 years ago, as His own worshiper. A
wide variety of events were lined up to celebrate the festival, which began with mangala-arati and was followed by
Shobha yatra to Juhu Koliwada garden, which was recently adopted by ISKCON Juhu. HH Badrinarayan Goswami gave
a detailed slideshow presentation on ‘World of Hare Krishna’ in the temple hall, which showcased the several milestones
in the history of the Hare Krishna movement and extraordinary achievements of devotees. Besides a week long
Gaura-katha (narration of the pastimes of Lord Caitanya) preceding Gaura Purnima, several discourse were held
throughout the day in the temple hall and Auditorium to explain the glories of Lord Caitanya as described in Caitanya-
caritamrita and Caitanya Bhagavat. A drama depicting the merciful nature of Lord Caitanya, in this troubled age of
Kali-yuga, helped the audience to easily understand why Lord Caitanya emphasized chanting of the holy names Hare
Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare as the best means
to attain love of God. The maha-abhishek of Sri Sri Gaura Nitai in the evening was another opportunity to soak in the
mercy of the Lord, by watching the Deities being showered in sacred substances with chants of Hare Krishna maha
mantra enveloping the entire temple hall. While devotees fasted till dusk, almost all visitors to the temple treated them-
selves to sabudana kitchari and kadhi prasada which was served out hot and in unlimited quantities, by the Food for Life
department. A delicious Ekadasi feast also awaited devotees after the main evening (sandhya) arati in the temple hall.
RAMAKATHA, 4 to 8 April : In Mandapam Hall from 7 – 9 pm followed by prasada. Ramkatha on 6 April at 12:30pm in Mandapam Hall.
BOAT FESTIVAL, 6 April : In Temple courtyard 6:30 - 9.00 pm.
RAMNAVAMI, 8 April : Shobha yatra at Juhu Beach at 6:15am , GuruPuja and Sringar Darshan at 7:30am, Maha-abhishek & Arati at 11:30 am, Gaura Arati 7:00pm, Kalash abhishek at 7:00pm. Life Patrons are requested to bring their cards for special darshan & prasada from 4pm onwards.
Chanting of the
Hare Krishna
mantra is the
easiest process of
meditation in this age.
As soon as one chants
the Hare Krishna
mantra, he sees the
forms of Krishna,
Rama and Their
energies, and that is
the perfect stage of
trance. One should not
artificially try to see
the form of the Lord
while chanting
Hare Krishna, but
when the chanting
is performed offense-
lessly the Lord will
automatically reveal
Himself to the view of
the chanter. The
chanter, therefore, has
to concentrate on
hearing the vibration,
and without extra
endeavour on his part,
the Lord will
automatically appear.

LORD KRISHNA & YOU
SERVING THE SERVANT OF THE LORD The name Hanuman brings to mind images of service, undying love, simplicity and deep devotion to anyone who hears his name. Hanuman is one of the central characters of Ramayana where he displayed his valor, strength and courage in service of Lord Ramachandra. An outstanding quality of Hanuman which endears him to millions is his unwavering devotion towards his master Lord Rama. Despite Hanuman having had a form of a monkey and displaying monkey like qualities such as fickleness and restlessness, he dovetailed these qualities in service of the Lord. Sometimes Hanuman is worshipped by many as independent from Lord Rama but he repeatedly identifies himself as the service of Lord Rama and showers unlimited praise upon Him throughout Ramayan. Hanuman is a symbol of an ideal servant of the Lord who has no desire, save and except to render unconditional service. Thus, his appearance day (on 15 April) serves as a perfect occasion to pray to him for sincere devotional service where the greatest happiness of the devotee is in being the servant of Lord and in abandoning any desire to enjoy with the Lord or independent of Him. Being pleased with this unflinching devotion, Lord Rama blessed Hanuman to stay in this world as long as His glories are sung. As mentioned in Mahabharata, Hanuman still continue to exist in Himalayan mountains constantly chanting the name of Sri Sri Sita Rama.

ISKCON Juhu from 7 - 18 March. He shared his vast
knowledge and deep spiritual insights, through his Srimad

On request of the local MLA Shri Ashokbau Jadhav, the
management at ISKCON Juhu recently accepted the
responsibility for maintenance and caretaking of a garden
located at Juhu Koliwada, Santacruz (W). To mark the
honor, devotees brought in Deities of Sri Sri Gaura Nitai
at this garden during early hours of Gaura Purnima on 16
March and performed congregation chanting of Hare
Krishna mantra.
The entire community of devotees
at ISKCON Juhu congregated to-
gether to honor the Jagannath Misra
feast, which is traditionally held the
day after the appearance of Lord
Caitanya, which fell on 17 March
this year. This is one of the few
times in the year when all members
of the community gather to honor
prasada together.
