MissionTo empower the rural youth with the spirit of self respect and the power of self employment by exploring their ability and skills.
To achieve this, the Institute shall impart quality education & training through real life facilities that will not only create jobs for themselves but also to provide jobs to others.
I have great pleasure in tabling the Annual Report of the Institute for the year 2012-13
Over the years, the penetration of Institute at village level is improved and the efforts are showing results. Deshpande RUDSETI is not only in training and employment activities but also looks after integrated development at village level. I am really proud that the efforts of the Institute have been fructified immensely.
The Institute has Centers at Mundgod, Dandeli and Joida. The Institute's building at Dandeli is ready for inauguration and the activities would commence from there very shortly.
The ultimate development depends on the improvement in the economy and the role of Institute in this area is remarkable. The settlement rate of trainees in Self-employment is around 70 % which is by all standards exemplary.
I look forward for further improved performance in years to come. I request to our Philanthropists and Donors to support the cause.
I place on record my thanks to One and all who have supported us in rural development and expect their continued support. I also place on record the dedicated and hard work put in by our team at D-RUDSETI.
Regards
RV Deshpande

Greetings from Canara Bank…
I convey my appreciation to all the members of Board of Governors, Governing Council and staff members of D-RUDSETI for showing excellent performance during the year. I feel the Institute would not have achieved the present status without the efforts of all these people.
Innovativeness and Enthusiasm has been the hallmark of D-RUDSETI, Haliyal in conducting new training programmes like Back Hoe loader and Excavator operation, Poultry, Automobile Sales Executive etc. based on felt need of the unemployed youth.

Message
Educationists should build the capacities of the spirit of inquiry, creativity, entrepreneurial and moral leadership among students and become their role model.
Abdul Kalam
The basic belief that every human being deserves a good quality of life is the purpose of the Rural Empowerment Facilitation center. For an average Indian, good quality of life means unhindered access to primary health care, primary and middle level education, a sustained income that meets every day needs, and a satisfactory family, social and spiritual life.
Entrepreneurship is an innovative and dynamic process, whereby, a new enterprise is created. Entrepreneur is a catalytic agent of change, who generates employment opportunities for himself and others. The emergence of entrepreneurs in a society depends to a great extent on the economic, social, religious, cultural and psychological factors prevailing in the society.
Deshpande RUDSETI, Haliyal has completed 9 years as a facilitating NGO for rural development in the state. It is not only supporting self employment ventures of the aspirants but also creating livelihood activities through awareness and skill based training programmes. The visionary and enthusiastic chairman Sri R.V.Deshpande always guides the Institute. Hence, Institute has been recognized in the country for its innovativeness in organizing various programmes.

Since inception, Institute has conducted 414 self employment training programmes to train 12,617 candidates utilizing 7593 training days.
During this year, D-RUDSETI has conducted 42 Self Employment training programmes to train 1246 candidates in 749 days. We are involved in promoting self help groups through our Extension Centres as part of our rural development activities. We have formed 248 SHGs with 2942 members and 275 SHGs got credit linkage during the year to tune of Rs.318 .21 lakhs. 211 SHG members have started their own income generating activities during this year.

Initiatives in Rural Development.India became independent in 1947. The term Rural Development is relevant even today after so many years of development after independence. Around 65% to 70% of Indian population is living in rural area. People in rural area migrate to urban areas in search of employment and better living leading to formation of slums in urban areas. Hence, the Institute has taken initiative in arresting this trend by creating opportunities for better quality of life as enjoyed by people in urban areas. D-RUDSETI focused this year on improving sanitation facilities in few villages as lot of importance has been given to construction of individual toilets in villages by Govt. of India. The detail of the toilets constructed is as mentioned below.
The villages selected are very backward and inhabited by ethnic communities. Gadagera village is inhabited by Siddhi community and other three villages are inhabited by Gowli communities.

Activities of Bamboo Unit:
Bamboo and cane are naturally available in North Kanara District. Hence, the district is known for bamboo craft since time immemorial. The craft which was in rudimentary form has changed a lot and assumed a lot of importance during recent years due to demand for wide range of products made out of bamboo and cane. Many decorative items apart from items of daily needs are made out of cane and bamboo, like mats, baskets, durries, lamp shades etc. The art has been refined further to include furniture items now a days. In fact in today's market, cane furniture is much in demand for their simple style and elegance in design.
The entire process of creating bamboo and cane craft involves a lot of efforts and perseverance that the craftsmen take years to master the technique.
During the year, D-RUDSETI's bamboo unit has produced various innovative craft items and we have participated in many fairs, exhibitions and melas. The bamboo unit provides training as well as wage employment to many artisans.

of working in Bakery unit at Kolhaphur. He motivated them to undergo training.
