Relevance of caste and class in marriage. Recognize the social and economic changes visible in marriage advertisements.</p> <p>Matrimonial advertisements in newspapers major source of arranged marriages. It replaced the role of Matchmaker (magul kapuwa). Portrays the changing patterns of marriage in Sri Lanka.</p> <p>Study consisted of Archival research Analyzed advertisements over a period of 20 years from 1989 - 2009 Amount of advertisements 500 Questionnaires Analyzed data collected from 6 Interviewees. Newspapers</p> <p>x Silumina April - 1989 &amp; 2009 x Sunday Observer April - 1989 &amp; 2009</p> <p>1st Marriage advertisement appeared on 1910 October - Dinamina.
