Two students from the Department of Mechatronics Engineering participated in

the CONNECT 2019 - XR Hackathon conducted by TCS Chennai on 17.10.2019

and have won the Third prize with a cash prize of Rs. 2 Lakhs. It was a National

event in which 100 Teams participated. Thiru. R Udayakumar, Hon'ble Minister of

Information Technology,Tamil Nadu, Mr. Vijayakumar, CEO-HCL Technologies

and Mr. Santhosh Babu,I.A.S felicitated the winners on 8.11.19.

The First year CSBS students underwent an Immersion Activity – Interviewing

the public as a part of Internal assessment of Business Communication & Value

Science (BCVS – I) subject. Immersion Activity is an invaluable one as they give

students a break and at the same time allow students to practice life skills.

Furthermore, they employ meaningful and useful language in real context. The

objective of this activity is to attract students‟ interest in learning the values through

fun and interaction. This activity lessened the wall of students‟ shyness and instilled

a giant of confidence, respect and enhanced relationship with others.

Dr.K.Lakshmi, HoD, Department of EEE convened a meeting with the NBA

criterion heads and coordinators and enquired about the status of completion.

Dr.P.Ashoka Varthanan , Head of the Department, Mechanical Engineering and

Convener of Institution Innovation Council of SKCET attended the MHRD-IIC

sponsored one day workshop on „Funding Opportunities for Innovation and

Entrepreneurship Development‟ at RMK Engineering College, Chennai. The

Programme was organized by the Institution Innovation Council of MHRD.

Dr.K.Elangovan, Assistant Director of MHRD Innovation cell presided over the

programme. Resource persons from DSIR, EDI-Chennai, Wipro and from various

Incubation Centers encouraged the participants to motivate young minds to apply

for funds. Good projects which were not shortlisted for Smart India Hackathon and

proof of concept contests shall be taken to the next level through the support of

organizations like DSIR and EDI.

Mr.A.Suryah , 2014-2018 batch prominent alumni of Department of ECE has

received the SPOT award at Robert Bosh, Coimbatore. This award was given

to him based on his team contribution which enabled successful project

completion.

Mr.G.Radhakrishnan, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and

Electronics Engineering has successfully completed his Ph.D Viva Voce

examination on 11.11.2019. His thesis is titled “Combined Facts Devices for the

Enhanced Power Transfer in a Grid Connected Renewable Energy System”.

Tamil Literary Club of SHA conducted வார்த்தை விதையாட்டு for the First

year students to recognize culture-specific perspectives and values embedded in

language behavior. The students actively took part in the event to achieve

functional proficiency in Tamil language.

“Contemporary arise of technical warfare – A critical analysis” authored by

the techno combo – “Professor and Student of I-Year CSBS” is highlighted as

Cover Story in Technical Magazine.

The “CSI Communications” November 2019 issue has published an article entitled „Top 4

Current Trends in Cyber Security‟ authored by Dr.S.Balakrishnan, HOD-CSBS and

Tharun M, I year student, Department of Computer Science and Business Systems.

The article accentuates the top key cyber threats prevailing in the world.

This initiative was specially applauded by Mr. Asoke Dassarma, Vice-president, TCS

and also various Heads of the Department of CSBS from other Institutions. It has been

forwarded to Prof. Bimal Roy, Prof. Subhomoy Maitra and Prof. Ranjan Bandopadhyay,

the leading cyber security experts in India.

A deliberation on NBA CO-PO Attainment Evaluation was chaired by NBA

Coordinator, Dr.M.Sujaritha, Professor, Department of Computer Science and

Engineering to choose a suitable method for evaluation and documentation of CO

PO Attainment of students, foreseeing the forthcoming NBA Accreditation.
