SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEERPort of Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA) is currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer to supportthe Engineering Services team. The individual will assist with the design and constructionadministration of capital and maintenance projects by providing engineering, and oversight ofconsultants at one of the nation’s largest ports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Serves as Project Manager and prepares oroversees in-house and/or outsourced plans,specifications, and bid documents forassigned major and special projects of acomplex and critical nature. Assists in theinspection and acceptance of completedprojectsDetermines project requirements, developspriorities, produces, and reviews detailedplans and specifications, coordinates andsupervises construction projects as assignedLeads, manages and mentors other staff inperforming their dutiesDevelops and recommends annualmaintenance, capital, and professionalservices projects program in conjunction withthe department’s Chiefs and projectmanagers, other PCCA staff, and customersPrepares technical requirements anddevelops scopes of work for professionalservices contracts for consultantsDevelops planning and budget level costestimates for professional services,construction and related project costs tosupport budget and capital program planningCoordinates with PCCA’s Real Estate &Commercial groups to provide engineeringsupport in development of real estateagreements Coordinates with & assistsPCCA’s Environmental Department withplanning and preparation of Corps ofEngineers regulatory permit applications

Coordinates with PCCA’s Risk ManagementDepartment in assessing damaged facilitiesand identifying appropriate repairsFormulates and prioritizes projects andproject requirements following the guidelinesoutlined in PCCA strategic plans, approvedbudgets, the PCCA’s Project Manual and torespond to port growth and operational needsInterfaces with dock operators, pipelineowners PCCA tenants and refinery engineersas necessary in performance of their dutiesPrepares reports, letters and correspondencein an accurate, comprehensible, andprofessional manner maintainingconfidentiality as appropriatePresents to the PCCA Commission, PortIndustries, and general public on plans andprogramsAssists in training new engineering staff inengineering principles and the systems andprocedures used by the PCCA to includecoaching, mentoring and guidingContract administration of consultants andcontractors including negotiation of fees andchange ordersProvide excellent customer service andestablish effective partnerships, with aproblem-solving and consensus buildingattitude, with interior and exterior Port clientsRelated duties as assignedCPR Certified or ability to become CPRcertified within the first year of employment Tier 2 status designation

EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALSBachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil,Structural or Ocean Engineering from anABET/EAC accredited school. A Master ofScience Degree in Engineering from andABET/EAC accredited school is preferredRegistered Professional Engineer in theState of Texas or ability to obtain registrationin TX within 6 monthsValid, current driver’s licenseAbility to obtain and maintain aTransportation Worker IdentificationCredential (TWIC) during course ofemployment

EXPERIENCE & JOB KNOWLEDGEDemonstrated knowledge and experience indesign and construction of Port facilitiesincluding but not limited to waterfront docks,wharfs and bulkheads, ship channels andwaterways, dredge material placementareas, warehouses, railroads, parking lotsand roadways and other engineeringdisciplines associated with port facilitiesTen years of experience in civil, structural,or ocean engineering design, constructionand project management of the dutiesoutlined is preferredPracticing multi-disciplinary knowledge ofengineering techniques and theories.Knowledge of local, state and federal codesand requirements associated with PortsKnowledge of budgets and cost containmentcontrols Effective collaboration, partnershipand problem- solving skills with extensiveinterpersonal and public communicationstechniquesHands-on management and leadershipapproach with effective businesscommunication utilizing correct English(spelling and grammar) Proficiency withpersonal computers, including wordprocessing, scheduling and spreadsheetapplications. Experience in AutoCad andGIS systems desiredStrong analytical skills, with a solid customerservice orientation, a history of effectivepartnerships, problem-solving andconsensus building, and the ability to fit wellwithin an energetic and dedicated teamAbility to work well within a fast-pacedenvironment, with challenging deadlines, amultitude of projects and changing priorities.
