An overview of squint surgery :
This surgery is mainly carried out to restore the
eye muscles of the eye and thus to change the
squint eyes.
This is a common eye problem seen in children
and rarely in adults.
The surgery is performed in one eye or in both

How squint surgery is performed ?
Anesthesia is given first.
After the anesthesia has taken effect, doctor will
makes a small surgical cut in the
tissue(conjunctiva) covering the white of the eye.
If there are one or more eye muscles that need the
surgery, that all are located.

According to the type of the squint, some surgery need
the strengthening of muscles and some need the
weakening.
For strengthening of muscle, resection is performed.
In resection a portion of the muscle is removed to
make it shorter.
For Weakening the muscle, recession is performed. In
recession the muscle is reattached to a point behind
the eye.

Before the surgery :
A complete medical history and physical exam is
done before the procedure.
Eye movement measurements are also carried out.

After the Surgery :
There is no need of a overnight stay after the
surgery, you can leave after the recovery from
anesthesia.
Your child would be prevented from rubbing eyes
before several days after the surgery.
You have to visit the eye surgeon 1 to 2 weeks
after the surgery.
