Hello again everybody and happy Summer! For those who haven’t heard, longtime GMSC member Bernie Botwinik, aka Bernie Stevens passed away recently from complications due to kidney failure. There will be two services. Bernie has such large group of family and friends we will be having a celebration of life in the Warren area as well Kansas City. When more details are announced, they will be communicated via email. For those who knew him, and many in the club did, this gentle giant of a man was charismatic, engaging, and electric. He was a generous club supporter and friend to many. So, Bernie, thanks for the memories and the good times. Mazel tov. I hope you enjoyed a great Memorial Day Weekend. I especially hope you found some way to enjoy the great sunshine while simultaneously staying cool with all the warm temperatures. Some of us enjoyed a great bike ride on Sunday. If you haven’t had an opportunity to look over our line up of events this summer, please take a few minutes to do so and mark your calendars. Many of our events are reprisals of past events which turned out to be very popular. We, as a club, rely on members to come up with great ideas and help run great events. To that end, I’d like to thank Shirley Tresh for running our second annual outing to St. Dunstan’s outdoor Greek Amphitheater. Last year, we arrived early and made our own wine and cheese party in the front row. It was a great time and I hope to see more people this year.I could go on and on about our upcoming events, but I’d need another three or four pages. Needless to say, I’m very excited about our line up and I hope you are too.– Darrell Ahlberg, President, GM Ski Club
