SQL Server 2014 Gets High Ratings for Integrated Disaster Recovery/Backup
SQL Server (including SQL Server 2014) is
the most secure RDBMS according to *NIST
Since 2002, there have been fewer than 60
security vulnerabilities related to all versions
of SQL Server
9 out of 10 users rated SQL
Server 2014 DR/Backup,
“AlwaysOn” Availability and
Security as “Excellent” or “Very
Good”**
Fast Facts:
“SQL Server 2014 pushes the pedal to
the metal” (March 2014, InfoWorld
technical review) gave SQL Server an
overall score of 9.5 out of 10 based on
availability performance, scalability, value
and management
Cloud Backup and Disaster Recovery
(Forrester/Microsoft research, March 2014) -The
results indicated that cost savings on storage is
the top benefit of cloud database backup
according to 61% of survey respondents;
followed by 50% of survey participants who cited
cost savings

Overview: SQL Server 2014 High Availability
• High Availability/Fault Tolerance via “AlwaysOn” enhancements: AlwaysOnAvailability is an integrated, unified high availability and disaster recovery (HADR) solution that advances and fine tunes the legacy functionality previously found across multiple, disparate features
• Significantly reduces the potential for “human error” which is the Number One reason cited by respondents to the ITIC 2014 – 2015 Global Reliability Survey
• Increases overall DB and system reliability; some 77% of businesses now require a minimum of “four nines” 99.99% uptime = just 52 minutes of unplanned annual downtime
• Helps to decrease Downtime Costs
