Tanglewood are keen to reduce the amount of plastic

waste created from single use plastic bottles, often

brought in with packed lunches. We do understand the

amount of organising a school trip takes, but we

wanted you to know we have plenty of cups and endless

supplies of water for drinks throughout the day.

Hopefully this gives you one less thing to worry about

and one less thing for each child to carry .

Last autumn we were thrilled to secure funding from Derbyshire County Council’s 5 Ways

to Well Being Programme to run a series of forest school sessions for Home Educated (HE)

children at our woods in Tissington in the Peak District. This was a huge success as you

will see from the comments below:

Lyndsey, one of the parents said, “It was fantastic for participants to meet other HE families, for our children to socialise and

be in an environment that fosters independence and confidence. It helped my daughter with special needs (asd) socialise with

other children in a non-competitive environment and build her social skills.”

“Harry had the chance to connect with and find his own interests and follow them freely - climbing trees, den building and

making fires particularly. He thrived in an environment where he was allowed to follow his own interests. In Harrys own words

“I just felt happy” and “it’s the best school I have ever been to”.

“As a parent with a special needs’ child (Autistic with extreme demand avoidance

PDA) that is currently being home schooled due to extreme anxiety I have felt very

isolated. Forest school gave me an invaluable opportunity to meet other parents

going through a similar thing and now we meet regularly.”

“A big thing for us was connecting with other home educators, none of whom we knew

previously. The kids have become good friends and parents too. We now are meeting up

weekly doing different activities such as cooking and horse riding. The social side is

invaluable to our children and has really improved their wellbeing and happiness.”

Don’t forget! We also offer forest school sessions,

outreach activities and after school clubs at your

school. To discover more please visit our website

or request a brochure.

Tanglewood has been working closely with a number of schools and nurseries offering Forest School sessions throughout

Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Below is just one of our success stories!
