I have to admit, I was a bit embarrassed saying this out loud the first time. And then pu$ing it in writing as our corporate mission!##

For Spring 2011 we looked for a style aesthetic that combines the comfort that is inherent in all Dansko shoes with a strong sense of individual style. The Dansko consumer wants to make a fashion statement but won’t sacrifice comfort to do it. Our consumer is unique, independent and charismatic, and we’re delivering shoes that will stand up to her personality.

I am inspired by the small house movement. They are folks who are reducing their carbon footprint by living in compact spaces. I’ve been reducing the amount of “stu!” I’ve acquired over the years in order to downsize into my Tumbleweed Tiny (140 sq. ".!!) house. Totally mobile, completely o! the grid… to be pulled by my custom carbon neutral, bio-diesel, suburban “Grease” car.

It’s kind of two-fold… Because my beautiful wife Tanya inspires me in general, she opened my eyes to how I can help others through Canine Partners for Life. Canine Partners is a great organization that trains and places service dogs with physically disabled individuals to help increase their independence and quality of life. This organization is a huge part of our lives. Seeing how much joy and freedom these dogs bring to their new owners keeps me going even when it seems the commitment is just too great.
