AT&T RANKS NO. 1 IN SPRINGFIELD, MAIndependent mobile analytics firm RootMetrics awards top spot to AT&T in

recent wireless network performance test

SPRINGFIELD, MA, OCTOBER 8, 2013 A newly released report showsAT&T* wireless customers inSpringfield, MA are enjoying the highest ranked local network. An independent mobile research and testing

organization today gave AT&Ts overall wireless network top honors. Seattle-based RootMetrics rankedAT&T highest for combined/overall voice, data and text network performance in Springfield.

The RootMetrics wireless network performance study for Springfield named AT&T as the overall

RootMetrics RootScore Award winner for its combination of call, text and mobile Internet performance. TheRootMetrics award is based on analysis of more than 18,290 wireless test calls, texts and data transmissionsconducted during September, 2013. This study is the second consecutive RootMetrics study for Springfield inwhich AT&T ranked highest.

AT&T was ranked highest in our September, 2013 tests of overall network performance in the Springfieldarea. Our overall RootScore Award looks at call, data and text performance across all data networktechnologies, including 4G LTE. We look at performance from a consumers point of view, and AT&T offered a

very strong overall performance for those in Springfield during our tests, said Bill Moore, president and CEOof RootMetrics.

AT&T launched4G LTE** in Springfield in December, 2012. It plans to expand its 4G LTE network to cover 300

million people nationwide by year-end 2014. Even as 4G LTE expands, customers can get 4G speeds outsideof 4G LTE areas with our 4G HSPA+ technology.
