    This Spring we have exciting performance and learning opportunities. We offer a mix of online and in-person programs that follow the Spotlight safety protocols (masks on, groups of 15 students or less, daily health assessment, temperature checks, streamed or outdoor performances).     Auditions for musicals take place once the program starts. All who register will be in the show!

    Spotlight All-Ages Musical (K-12th grade) - "Madagascar Jr"

    In-Person rehearsals Saturdays 11:30am-2pm starting January 30. Auditions for placement take place the first sessions - we'll teach them everything they need to know!

  • Spotlight Kids Musical - "Lights! Camera! Action!"

    In-Person rehearsals Wednesdays 4:30-5:30pm starting January 13. Auditions for placement take place the first 2 weeks - we'll teach them everything they need to know!

    Performance Friday March 26 will be streamed (cast performing in the theatre with audience viewing from their homes), unless restrictions change.

    Description: Take your seats and prepare to be thrilled with songs and special appearances by some of Hollywood's biggest stars. This musical features favorite songs from the hit movies SpongeBob SquarePants, Finding Nemo, The Polar Express, Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory, and Shrek. So sit back and enjoy as the kids get ready for a spectacular show!

    Spotlight Kids Musical - "Broadway Beat"

    Description: Do you hear that beat? It's the sound of people entering the theater on the most famous street in the world. It's the sound dreams are made of. It's the sound of Broadway! Celebrate musical theatre with hits from Hairspray, The Music Man, The King And I, Wicked, Rent, and Grease, and a medley of favorites from George M. Cohan! It's the beat of Broadway and nobody can stop it!

    Limited to a cast size of 15. Grades K-4. Cost: $250

  • Spotlight Jr Musical - "Shrek Jr"

    In-Person rehearsals Wednesdays 6-8:30pm and Sundays Noon-2pm starting January 20. Performances May 7-9 will be streamed (cast performing in the theatre with audience viewing from their homes), unless restrictions change.

    Description: Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek. One day, Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he's handed a task - if he rescues feisty princess Fiona, his swamp will be righted. Shrek tries to win Fiona’s love and vanquish Lord Farquaad, but a fairytale wouldn't be complete without a few twists and turns along the way.

    Spotlight SR Musical - "Shrek"

    In-Person rehearsals Thursdays 6-8:30pm and Sundays 3-5:30pm starting January 21. Performances May 21-23 will be streamed (cast performing in the theatre with audience viewing from their homes), unless restrictions change.

    Description: "Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek...." And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand... and his name is Shrek.

  • Spotlight Online Musical - "Zombies the Musical"

    Online rehearsals Mondays 4-5:30 starting January 25. Performance Saturday March 27 will be streamed live online (cast performing and audience viewing through Zoom). Description: Zombies is the story of Hunter, who is not a bad kid but they do like to bully other students. They get a taste of their own

    medicine when they return to school in a dream to find that everyone has become a zombie and they are now the outcast. This musical is heartfelt and funny but teaches a valuable lesson about friends and belonging.

    Grades 4-10. Cost: $250

    This hybrid setup is designed to allow for everyone to participate! 45 minutes each, 10 weeks long. Cost $115 each (discount if you register for multiple)

    All classes starting the last week of January.

    Musical Theatre - Triple Threat (grades 4-12) In-Person or Online classes Saturdays 10:30-11:15am. "Cast Members" will focus on their singing, acting and dance skills to work towards becoming a “Triple Threat.” Scenes and songs chosen from popular Broadway and Disney musicals. A great learning experience while singing/acting/dancing with your friends!

    Acting and Auditioning (grades 4-12) In-Person or Online classes Saturdays 2:15-3pm. "Cast Members" will learn audition scenes, hold mock auditions, work on monologues and commercials and scenes. Students will learn how to create a character and analyze scenes for goals and tactics.

  • Being a Director (grades 5-12) In-Person or Online classes Saturdays 3-3:45. Learn what it takes to be a theatre director and what process is used to design a production by studying scenes and creating a vision. Students will get first-hand experience as they direct other class mates in the scenes they study!

    Ukulele Group Class (grades 3-12) In-Person or Online classes Sundays 2:10-2:55pm. Learn the basics of playing ukulele including tuning, chords, strum patterns and techniques. We will learn chords and chord progressions that are used in thousands of songs, new and old. Music will be chosen from popular, standards and musical theatre. Students will need a ukulele for this class.

    Improv Younger (grades 2-5) Improv Older (grades 6-12) In-Person or Online classes In-Person or Online classes Saturdays 9:30-10:15am Thursdays 5-5:45pm

    Improv is acting without a script - making up scenes on the spot. Learn how to successfully and hilariously cre-ate an improvised scene. Cast members will learn the "rules" and techniques of improv to make a scene suc-cessful. In each session the students will be able to test out the newly learned skills in scenes they create with each other! Improv teaches cooperation, listening and public speaking skills. It also gives students a chance to stretch their creative minds in creating new characters and situations.

    Spotlight classes and workshops can be taken in-person or online.

  • Each season Spotlight offers several non-musical play productions. Students must audition for a chance to be in the cast. There is no registration fee for these productions, but cast members will be expected to gather paid advertising/sponsorships to appear in the program.

    These plays offer a different experience than the musicals in the season.

    Early Spring Play - “Anne of Green Gables” In-Person Auditions the week of January 11 Visit SpotlightArts.com for details, forms and audition scenes! Rehearsals Mondays and Fridays 6-8:30pm. You may not be called to every rehearsal. Additional rehearsals to be added the last week. Performances April 9 and 10 to be live-streamed or recorded, unless restrictions change.

    Description: This production captures the charm and excitement of L.M. Montgomery's enduring classic about an orphan girl, Anne Shirley, from her first encounter with her austere guardian to her thrilling graduation from Queen's Academy. All the tragedies and triumphs that mark Anne's growth from adolescence to early adulthood are here: her friendship with Diana, her feuds with Gilbert, her adoration of Matthew, the mistaken wine bottle, the

    cake disaster, the broken leg, the scholastic achievements, and the saving of Green Gables.

    Limited cast size. Grades 4-12. No cost/Ad Sponsorship.

    Any Spotlight production, class or workshop can “POD” casted If you have a group of kids/teens who want to participate at Spotlight as a group, any of the opportunities this Spring can be scheduled specific to your group’s timing and needs.
