As carriers are now moving aggressively toward millimeter wave (mmW) 5G technologies, ConcealFab is pivoting its product development and resourcing strategy in parallel. The shift to mmW 5G requires not only ConcealFab’s existing competencies in mechanical, thermal, and aesthetic design, but also a significant upgrade in its RF prowess as mmW spectrum is considerably more sensitive to concealment materials which can cause significant pattern distortion if not properly designed. In support of this shift to mmW, ConcealFab has constructed a commercial-grade anechoic chamber complete with mmW phased array antennas. As a result, ConcealFab can now do full pattern testing of its mmW concealment materials to validate any impact on RF performance from the materials. To date, ConcealFab has received approval for certain mmW concealment materials, performing at both 28 GHz and 39 GHz, and has begun shipment of several products utilizing this material. We are constantly developing new mmW 5G products, so please inquire as to how we can support your 5G deployment needs.

ConcealFab has partnered with 3M to provide a custom mmW vinyl wrap to color match 5G radomes to their surrounding environment. These pre-cut vinyl prints are pattern tested at 5G mmW frequencies to ensure minimal pattern distortions and losses. ConcealFab’s 3M vinyl is UV-Stable and impact resistant to last for years. The prints can be ordered in one of ConcealFab’s standard colors or can be ordered as a custom color or custom texture. For installation, ConcealFab can provide a list of in-market, 3M certified partners that can help with installation needs.

ConcealFab’s 5G Modular Shrouds are designed to cover the bottom, sides, and mounting brackets of the 5G radio. The shrouds are made of vacuum-molded plastic. Our shrouds contain custom mounting bracketry that is slimmer than the OEM brackets and has 10 degrees of azimuth adjustability.

ConcealFab’s Cable Shrouds are designed to cover the power and fiber cables of the 5G radio. The shrouds are made of vacuum-molded plastic. These shrouds attach directly to the radio and are compatible with the OEM mounting brackets.

All shrouds feature 1/8’’ venting screen material to deter bug intrusion and bottom weep holes to mitigate water pooling inside the shroud.

ConcealFab’s expertise in mechanical design, RF analysis, and thermal performance have culminated in the creation of our new 5G Pole Top Concealments. These products fully conceal 5G radio equipment, while allowing maximum RF performance through the use of ConcealFab’s proprietary clearWaveTM material, which is placed in front of the 5G radomes. Thermal performance is maintained using strategically placed vents. Our 5G Pole Top Concealments can also be configured to house a 4G omni-antenna, as needed. The Concealment can be mounted to the top of a wide range of poles.

ConcealFab’s 5G Side Arm Mount allows for the deployment of 5G radio equipment on the side of a variety of poles. The 5G radio equipment can be installed without shrouding/concealment using ConcealFab’s Radio Mounting kits. ConcealFab also offers new 5G Concealment Cylinders that can be mounted to the 5G Side Arm. These Concealment Cylinders feature our clearWaveTM material for maximum RF performance. Venting is provided by screens placed near the 5G Radio Equipment and on top of the Cylinder.

The entire Shroud cover is constructed from ConcealFab’s clearWaveTM material. These Shrouds allow Operators to place radios either in 90 degree, 180 degree, or even 360 degree orientations. The 5G Radio Shrouds can be mounted in both the communication and power space on a variety of pole types. The familiar shape of our 5G Radio Shroud is widely accepted for 4G deployments, while the attachment to one pole quadrant meets Utility climbing restrictions. The Ericsson 6701 variation is under 3 cubic feet in volume.

ConcealFab’s 4G/5G MicroBubble Concealment is designed to house 4G and 5G radio equipment in an enclosure that provides maximum RF performance. The entire Shroud cover is constructed from ConcealFab’s clearWaveTM material. The 4G/5G MicroBubble Concealment’s form factor is the same as existing 4G antennas. This shape allows Operators to remove an existing 4G antenna and replace it with a Concealment that contains upgraded radio equipment.

ConcealFab’s 4G/5G 18’’ Pole Top Shroud is designed to house both 4G and 5G radio equipment on the top of a variety of pole types. 4G radios, a 4G cantenna, and other 4G equipment is placed in the top of the shroud. The lower shroud portion can either be ordered with ConcealFab’s Jettison ShroudTM to cover and reserve space for 5G radio equipment or with ConcealFab’s 5G Modular Shrouds. 5G Modular Shrouds can be ordered separately if the Jettison ShroudTM option is chosen.

MOUNTS & SHROUDSSimilar to ConcealFab’s shift toward 5G, ConcealFab’s 4G portfolio has also been shifting in conjunction with the Operators’ evolving needs. With the addition of unlicensed spectrums (CBRS and LAA) being added to networks, ConcealFab’s traditional 4G products have been upgraded to enable placement of the radios closer to the antennas, minimizing the impact of RF cable losses. ConcealFab’s traditional pole top and side arm antenna mounts have been modified to become dual purpose products, mounting and concealing both the antenna and these radios into efficiently packaged, aesthetic solutions. Consistent with the rest of ConcealFab’s portfolio, these solutions have all been mechanically analyzed, thermally certified and RF tested, when appropriate. The biggest differentiator for ConcealFab’s product line with respect to the antenna / radio combo products is the added layer of optimized sizing. In order for these products to have the highest likelihood of being zoned and permitted, the products should fall within the FCC’s maximum allowable volumetric envelop for Federal Exemption. ConcealFab is well aware of these size restrictions and always designs their products with these guidelines in mind to support our customer’s ability to receive zoning and permitting approval as early as possible. ConcealFab is constantly updating its portfolio of 4G products with both standalone antenna / radio as well as combination antenna / radio mounts based upon the evolving needs of our customers. ConcealFab’s 3X Radio Pole Top is designed to hold up to (3) low-powered radios at the top of a pole. Venting is provided by 1/8’’ screening material to deter insect intrusion.

ConcealFab’s 4G Antenna / 4x Radio Pole top is designed to house a variety of 4G equipment in a single pole top solution. (4) Ericsson 220x radios are supported on (2) Dual Support Units for superior thermal performance. The 4x Radio Pole Top can also hold an electrical disconnect and a fiber management panel. Various 4G antennas can be accommodated using ConcealFab’s antenna mounting technology. The Pole Top can be attached to a variety of pole types.

ConcealFab’s 4G High Power “Kilo” Radio / Antenna Concealment is designed to house up to (3) dual-band Nokia radios, associated rectifiers, and (3) panel antennas in a sectorized array. The Concealment is constructed using (3) separate panels to allow for easier maintenance. The Concealment is just under the 28 cubic feet in order to speed permitting approvals. ConcealFab’s Kilo Radio Concealment can be placed on top of a variety of pole types.

ConcealFab’s 4G 14’’ and 18’’ Pole Top Shrouds are designed to enclose the radio and antenna equipment of a site. An antenna, radio(s), and power disconnect panel can also be located within the same shroud. Placingthe radio equipment close to the antenna reduces cable losses for lower-powered radios. The shroud includes a stainless steel internal structure with an eccentric mounting pipe to provide maximum volume for mounting radio equipment below the serving antenna. Radio equipment is kept cool by perforated vents. Mounting provisions include legs to attach to existing wood/steel poles or custom flanges to attach to replacement poles. The shroud legs are designed to attach to poles between 4” and 14” in diameter.
