The new committee was established on 1 January 2016 and the chair is Blánaid Murphy, director of music at St Mary's Pro Cathedral in Dublin. Each of the key committee positions have been filled by people who are based in different parts of the country and given the regional challenges, committee meetings will take place via online platforms, with the AGM (attended by all the committee) taking place as part of an annual festival service. The festival service event will be open to all and will be directed by a guest director. Representation around the country will be maintained by ensuring that events happen at local level and are organised by local people. Mark Bowyer will continue to act as coordinator for Ireland and will work with the new committee to ensure that the plans and aspirations of RSCM Ireland continue to be delivered and executed in line with the overall aims and objectives of the RSCM. Speaking on behalf of RSCM Ireland, Mark said “This is a very exciting time for RSCM Ireland and I am grateful to all those who have served on the two committees over the years for all the work they have done. I am very much looking forward to working with Blánaid and the new committee members to further the work of the RSCM in Ireland.” Details of the new committee members are overleaf.
