Spotlight on Teachers
eet the 14 English teacher trainees who were selected
after a long process of completing the application form,
taking the ITP test and supplemental test, and being
interviewed for consideration in the YDRC English language
teacher trainee training program offered by AMIDEAST through a
sub-grant from the USAID funded, EDC administered, Ruwwad youth
empowerment program.

Yousef Jouma
Hebron
Has a Bachelor degree in English Literature from Bethlehem University. In
10 years, Yousef sees himself as “a distinguished teacher who
creates special tools to make the process of teaching
more creative and special”.
The Training taught him to become “a unique teacher who has
special ways to make his students love the lessons…a
motivator for students to learn”.
Heba Yaseen
Nablus
Has a Bachelor degree in English for Specific Purposes from Jordan
University of Science and Technology. Currently she is doing her masters
at An-Najah National University in Applied linguistics and Translation
Studies. In 10 years, Heba sees herself as a “A PHD holder or a
freelance translator”.
The training taught her “new methods of teaching, various
activities, how to manage a class”.

Has a Bachelor degree from Hebron University with a major in English
language and a French minor. In 10 years, Zinat sees herself as “a good
teacher having my own car, house, bank account”.
The Training taught Zinat “patience, something we call warm up
activities … it will help me managing a classroom, and
emphasize my existence as a qualified teacher”.
Has a Bachelor degree in English literature with a translation minor from
Bethlehem University. In 10 years, Nagham sees herself “continuing my
studying abroad, or being a teacher at a university”.
The Training “changed my idea about teaching thinking it is
a boring profession…I was mistaken, teaching can be a
very interesting career if you know how to be creative”.
Has a Bachelor degree in English Teaching and its methods from Al- Quds
Open University. Manal also has a Diploma in Hotel Management and has
worked for several years. In 10 years, Manal sees herself as “a teacher …
something more than a teacher, maybe a manager”.
The Training taught Manal ”how to be a good teacher … how to
deal with students ,also how to be creative and active”.
Has a Bachelor degree from Hebron University. Loves watching soccer
games and reading novels. In 10 years, Ranin sees herself “a native
English speaker working in many institutions”
The Training taught Ranin “things not many teachers in
Hebron know. so, this training adds to my experience
of which many people care”.

Has a Bachelor degree from Hebron University. She hopes to work for
AMIDEAST, improve her English skills, and travel to France. In 10 years, Duaa
sees herself “speaking English effectively, and working in
teaching English language…having my own English teaching
center”.
The Training taught Duaa “to manage classes, motivate students,
and help them improve their English skills”.
Has a Bachelor degree from Birzeit University. Friends are the best part of
her life. In 10 years, Samah sees herself “the Ambassador of The
Palestinian State in the USA”.
The Training “will open many future opportunities for me. I
am a fresh graduate and this training will be a strong
point in my CV”.
Has a Bachelor degree in English Literature from An-Najah National
University. In 10 years, Salma sees herself “a manager for an
international youth organization”.
The Training “will open other doors for better life and
career for me, and it will add valuable experience in
teaching first and in my life”.
Has a Bachelor degree in English Language Literature from Hebron
University. In 10 years, Hayat sees herself “ with a PHD degree in
English Language ,and a professional trainer”.
The Training taught Hayat “new techniques ,skills ,tools ,ideas
and methods which will refine my abilities as English
teacher and change some of traditional ways into modern
suiting children and adult learners”.

National University. In 10 years, Rewa sees herself “a teacher in the
University, of course after getting a good job. Mother,
wife, famous poet”.
The Training “gave me more confidence of things I can do.
Without the training my experience will only be in its
beginnings like any traditional teachers”.
Has a Bachelor degree in English Literature. He has worked for AMIDEAST as
an ACCESS teacher. In 10 years, Nael sees himself “a great university
professor holding PHD in Linguistics”.
The Training “provides me with methods of teaching, class
management, tools needed for teaching, community of
English speakers, space to practice teaching, ways of
assessment and love of teaching”.
Has a MA in Applied Anthropology in Community and Youth Work from the
UK and a BA in English Literature and Developmental studies from Al-Quds
University. In 10 years, Rawan sees herself as “a senior lecturer in
one the most important universities in the UK”.
The Training “has given me the chance to gain more new
thought, ideas and strategies that will help me in my
career as a teacher”.
Has a MA in Curricula & Teaching Methods/ English Language from Amman
Arab University and a BA in English Literature from Al - Ahliyyah Amman
University. In 10 years, Rosy sees herself “proud of my son and his
great achievements in school”.
The Training taught her “many ideas, methods, techniques and ways
to know my students and involve them in the learning
