While taking pictures this year, I came to 2 realizaons. 1. Time truly makes a difference. Some of our students have been enrolled with us mulple years and look much different now than they did in the past. 2. I realized each student serves as a reflecon of their parents. I caught myself chuckling when students took their place for pictures, as it was at that moment I realized the striking similaries they possessed to one or both of their parents. As I thought about that, I began to wonder what other sources of influence each student might reflect in their life. My personal desire for them is that the influence they receive on a daily basis at HBA would cause them to reflect Christ in their life. HBA's 6th year of school is off to a great start - Praise the

Lord! It is truly excing to see and hear the classrooms

filled with singing, praying, teaching, inquiring, and

laughing. Our returning students have jumped right

back into the swing of things, and new students are ac-

climang well to the roune of classes. The beginning of

this week allowed me the opportunity to take each stu-

dent's picture for Picture Day. Most of us struggle to

pose in front of a camera and therefore dread days like

this; however, as the photographer behind the lens, I

must say it was a blessing to be a part of. While taking

pictures this year, I came to 2 realizaons. 1. Time truly

makes a difference. Some of our students have been

enrolled with us mulple years and look much different

now than they did in the past. 2. I realized each student

serves as a reflecon of their parents. I caught myself

We are excited about the upcoming field trips in October! Each fall, our intent is

to build unity and comradery among the students and their families as we experi-

ence various landmarks, museums, and exhibits across Oklahoma.

They will tour the Territory Farm, explore

the famous Red Barn, and experience

school as it once was on the frontier in a

one-room schoolhouse. This historic

landmark also houses a

tremendous playground for all ages to

enjoy. Parents ($5) and siblings ($8) are

welcome to join us and may either meet at

HBA by 8:15 to ride the bus, or meet us

there by 10:00 am. We will return to HBA

HBA Field Trip Memory… (Red Rock Canyon State Park)

“My favorite field trip was probably hiking because it’s the only one I can remember because I had to carry around a

stroller for nearly two hours.” Deborah S.

Introducing... The Journalism Team

Why we joined the Journalism Team... “I joined the journal-

ism club because I was

curious to what it was.

I suppose interviewing

and giving ideas is

fun.”

Mason S. 12th

“I am part of the journalism team because I was

interested and wanted to help. I also joined be-

cause I have always been interested in photog-

raphy and wanted to get in on it.” Brayden N. 9th

“I wanted to find out what is was about,

out of pure curiosity. It also sounded

fun.” J.T. 8th “I wanted to join because I think it will help our school come closer

by just giving people a high-five for a good statement or picture in the

yearbook, and us working together to make it a good team. I really

just want to take pictures because I have a good eye for those things,

but if I need to write a little to get there, then I will. :)” Kenzie C. 10th

“I wanted to join because I like writing and taking pictures.

It’s also a good way to get to know the other people at

school better, to get out of our cliques. I’m also very nosy

and want to know what’s going on =)” Mattie L. 10th

“I was intrigued with the idea of jour-

nalism … I’m still willing to try it out.”

Josiah S. 9th

“Because I thought it would be cool

and we could actually do cool stuff.

And because I was interested.”

Deborah S. 10th

“To get out of school

work and out of

curiosity.”

Logan Y.8th

“Why I joined the Journal-

ism team is because I like

to take pictures.”

Clayton W.4th

“Why I joined journalism

is so I can hear about up-

coming events.”

Garrett W. 3rd

“I wanted to be on

the journalism

team because it’s a

way in which to

help the school get

a job done a little

faster.”

Natalie M. 7th

Parent/Teacher Meetings

Fundraiser Meetings

Fundraising season is just around the corner and Bro. Mori-

arty would like to meet with a parent from each family for

a 15 minute meeting following school on either

September 27 or 28. The purpose of the meeting is to

explain this year's fundraiser, answer questions, and supply

parents with a fundraising packet to begin fundraising.

Miss Faulkner, our secretary this year, will

be contacting families over the next 2 weeks

to schedule you for one of the 2 dates availa-

ble. We appreciate the hard work many have

put in to fundraising in the past and look for-

ward with anticipation at what this year's ef-

forts will afford us.

2 Weeks into each quarter, HBA's teachers con‐duct a brief Parent‐Teacher meeting with each of their student's parents. The goal of this meeting is to allow teachers to communicate the progress they see each student making, as well as to express any concerns they have since the last meeting. Additionally, this meeting al‐lows a great opportunity for parents to voice concerns or questions they might have to both the teacher and or Bro. Moriarty. Teachers do their best to ensure meetings are offered at a time that is convenient to at least one parent in each family either before or af‐ter school. Meetings generally conclude in under 10 minutes. Please do your best to prioritize these quarterly meetings as they benefit you, your student(s), and our teachers. Thank you!

Spirit Night @ Chick-fil-A

“HBA’s Chick-fil-A Spirit Night was a lot of fun! We got

to serve many people and got to see their faces when

a kid or a teenager came up and asked if they

needed anything, and not getting paid for it! It’s rare

when you see someone willing to do something with a

smile, even if it’s just opening a door, or taking your

trash. It was a blast and I would encourage you to

come out to come out to the next one! You’ll have a

lot of fun!” Mattie L.

As Mattie described, Spirit Night is a fun filled time.

It provides an opportunity for HBA students to serve

their community. With jobs varying from opening

doors to refilling drinks, each student gets to imple-

ment servanthood as demonstrated in the Scripture,

“Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly

love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in

business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;” Romans

12:10-11. We cannot do this without help. We will

need 6-10 students to work 5-8 pm. There will be a

free treat for all who work! So come out and join us!

Labor Day Picnic

The Labor Day Picnic is a highlight of every year at HBBC, and we

invite you to come join us this Labor Day (Monday, Sept. 3rd).

Hamburgers and hotdogs will be served with an array of delicious

sides. There will be a variety of activities for the whole family.

Every year, our hearts are blessed by the singing of all three HBBC

music groups (Glorybound, Assurance, and Witness) and a

challenging devotion from one of Heartland’s

upperclassman preachers. It is the perfect opportunity to fellowship

together and praise our Lord for all He has done.

“The labor day picnic is a great time for food, friends, fellowship,

and fun. While at the labor day picnic you will enjoy dodge ball,

softball, archery tag, and games, for the kids. You will also hear

Godly music and a short meaningful charge, testimonies, and

much more! Hope to see you there!” Jeremiah H.

“The labor day picnic is full of fun activities like playing baseball,

dunking Heartland students, and archery tag. There is also great

preaching and singing. When the preaching is done they give you

free food with ice-cream and cobbler. So come and enjoy your time

at the Heartland Labor Day Picnic.” Logan Y.
