On August 24, 2020, the table tennis star Poulomi Ghatak retired quietly. She had represented India at the Commonwealth Games in 2006 and Common wealth championships between 2000 and 2008. She entered Olympics at Sydney for the first time when she was 16. Poulomi has now joined her husband Soumyadip Roy to coach younger players at their academy that was inaugurated in June, 2019.

24 अगस्त, 2020 को टेबल टेनिस स्टार पुलोमी घटक चुपचाप सेवानिवृत्त हो गए। उसन े2006 मे ंकॉमनवेल्थ गेम्स और 2000 से 2008 के बीच कॉमन वेल्थ चैंपियनशिप में भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व किया था। जब वह 16 साल की थी तब उसने पहली बार सिडनी में ओलंपिक में प्रवेश किया था। पोलोमी अब अपन ेपति सौम्यदीप रॉय के साथ उनकी अकादमी में युवा खिलाड़ियो ंको कोच करने के लिए शामिल हुई हैं, जिसका उद्घाटन जून, 2019 में हुआ था।

Indian Table Tennis Star Poulomi Ghatak retires

Indian Cricket players M S Dhoni and Suresh Raina announced their retirement from International Cricket. He was awarded with Padma Bhushan in 2018, Padma Shri in 2009 and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 2007-08. Under his captainship, India won the 2011 World Cup. M S Dhoni was the first player to win ODI Player of the year award twice once in 2008 and 2009. Indian Army conferred with honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 2011.

भारतीय क्रिकेट खिलाड़ियो ंएम एस धोनी और सुरेश रैना ने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट से संन्यास की घोषणा की। उन्हें 2018 में पद्म भूषण, 2009 में पद्म श्री और 2007-08 में राजीव गांधी खेल रत्न से सम्मानित किया गया था। उनकी कप्तानी मे,ं भारत ने 2011 विश्व कप जीता। एम एस धोनी 2008 और 2009 में दो बार वनड ेप्लेयर ऑफ द ईयर पुरस्कार जीतने वाले पहल ेखिलाड़ी थे। भारतीय सेना ने 2011 में लेफ्टिनेंट कर्नल की मानद रैंक से सम्मानित किया।

M S Dhoni, Suresh Raina retire from International Cricket

He is the second Indian cricketer to receive the honour after Kapil Dev. It is to be noted that under the captainship of Kapil Dev India won the 1983 World Cup. Suresh Raina He was the first Indian to hit T20 century. He was the part of the Indian team winning 2011 world cup. He was the first Indian player and second in the world after Chris Gayle to hit 100 sixes in IPL.

वह कपिल देव के बाद सम्मान पान ेवाले दूसर ेभारतीय क्रिकेटर हैं। उल्लेखनीय ह ैकि कपिल देव की कप्तानी में भारत ने 1983 का विश्व कप जीता था। सुरेश रैना वह टी 20 शतक लगान ेवाले पहल ेभारतीय थे। वह 2011 विश्व कप जीतने वाली भारतीय टीम का हिस्सा थे। वह आईपीएल में 100 छक्के लगाने वाले क्रिस गेल के बाद पहल ेभारतीय खिलाड़ी और दुनिया के दूसरे खिलाड़ी थे।

On July 25, 2020, the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Shri Kiren Rijiju announced that Haryana is to host the fourth edition of Khelo India Youth Games. The Games has been scheduled to be conducted after Tokyo Olympics. Star Sports has been signed in as the official broadcast of Khelo India Youth Games.

4th Edition of Khelo India Youth Games to be hosted by Haryana

On July 15, 2020, the Federation Internationale de Football Association announced that the 2022 World Cup is to be held in Qatar. The governing body also released schedule of matches. The 2022 FIFA World Cup will be the first world cup to be held in Arab World and also the first in a muslim-majority country. India has never participated at the FIFA World Cup.

15 जुलाई, 2020 को फेडरेशन इंटरनेशनेल डी फुटबॉल एसोसिएशन ने घोषणा की कि 2022 विश्व कप कतर में आयोजित किया जाना है। शासी निकाय ने मैचो ंकी अनुसूची भी जारी की। 2022 का फीफा विश्व कप अरब विश्व में आयोजित होने वाला पहला विश्व कप होगा और एक मुस्लिम बहुल देश में भी यह पहला होगा। भारत ने कभी फीफा विश्व कप में भाग नहीं लिया।

2022 FIFA World Cup to be held in Qatar

In the presence of P.V Sindhu (Olympic Silver Medalist) and Sunil Chhetri (all-time top goalscorer of Indian National Football team), ‘Fit Hai to Hit Hai India’ program was launched on 3rd July 2020 by Ramesh Pokhriyal (Union Minister of Human Resource Development) and Kiren Rijiju (Union Minister of State I/C for Youth Affairs and Sports). As a part of the Fit India Campaign, the ‘Fit Hai to Hit Hai India’ program will be organized.

Liverpool wins 2019-20 English Premier League title

The Ministry of Sports has launched Khelo India State Centres of Excellence. The centre aims to create robust sporting ecosystem in the country. The Khelo India State Centre of Excellence is to be established to strengthen excellence of India in Olympics. The centre will help the athletes to train in their respective discipline. The Centres The 8 centres established under the scheme are located in Arunachal Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Manipur, Nagaland, Odisha, Telangana, Mizoram.

खेल मंत्रालय ने खेलो इंडिया स्टेट सेंटर ऑफ एक्सीलेंस लॉन्च किया है। केंद्र का लक्ष्य देश में मजबूत खेल पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र बनाना है। ओलंपिक में भारत की उत्कृष्टता को मजबूत करने क ेलिए खेलो इंडिया स्टेट सेंटर ऑफ एक्सीलेंस की स्थापना की जानी है। केंद्र एथलीटो ंको अपने संबंधित अनुशासन में प्रशिक्षित करने में मदद करेगा। केंद्र योजना के तहत स्थापित 8 केंद्र अरुणाचल प्रदेश, केरल, कर्नाटक, मणिपुर, नागालैंड, ओडिशा, तेलंगाना, मिजोरम में स्थित हैं।

GoI establishes Khelo India State Centres of Excellence

The Asian Championship Gold medal winner Gomathi Marimuthu has been stripped off the medal and also banned from sport activities for 4 years. The 31-year old athlete had tested positive for anabolic steroid Nandrolene at the 2019 Asian Championship. Gomathi Marimuthu is an Indian field runner hailing from Tamil Nadu. She won her first gold medal in women’s 800 metre race at the 2019 Asian Athletics Championship that was held in Doha, Qatar. The athlete has been stripped off her gold medal for doping.

Asian Championship Winner Gomathi Marimuthu stripped off Medal

On June 12, 2020, the FIFA ranking was released. Indian team retained its 108th position as the international football for the year 2020 has been suspended since March. FIFA Ranking: India retains 108th rank

On June 5, 2020, the Asian Football Confederation confirmed that India will host 2022 Women’s Asian Cup. This is the first time India is hosting the cup since 1979. The AFC (Asian Football Confederation) is one of the 6 continental confederations. There are 47 member countries that are part of the AFC. It was officially formed in 1954. The headquarters of the confederation is located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

India to host AFC Women’s Cup

On June 2, 2020, the Hockey India recommended India Women Team Captain Rani Rampal for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Awards. Monika, Vandana Kataria and Harmanpreet Singh were recommended for Arjuna Awards. Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Awards A panel from the Sports Ministry will shortlist the nominations received from several other federations. The awards are to be presented on National Sports Day, August 29.

Khel Ratna Award: India Women’s Team Captain Rani Rampal recommended

On May 31, 2020, the BCCI nominated Rohit Sharma for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Awards. The Award is considered to be the highest sporting honour award in India. Rohit has become the first T20 cricketer to score four centuries. Also, he holds record of 150 plus score in around 8 ODIs. He also holds the greatest number of centuries in ODI matches since 2017, that numbered to 18. He was also the ICC ODI Cricketer of the year, 2019. Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award is the highest sporting honour of India. The award is presented by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and sports.

The Mizoram State Government has recently provided industrial status to Sports. This has been done by the government to attract investment in the Sports industry. The Mizoram Government is framing new industrial policy under which the sports have been included as sports category.

मिजोरम राज्य सरकार ने हाल ही में खेल को औद्योगिक दर्जा प्रदान किया ह।ै यह सरकार द्वारा खेल उद्योग मे ंनिवेश को आकर्षित करन ेके लिए किया गया है। मिजोरम सरकार नई औद्योगिक नीति तैयार कर रही है जिसक ेतहत खेलो ंको खेल श्रेणी के रूप में शामिल किया गया है।

Mizoram provides industrial status to Sports

On May 18, 2020, Anil Kumble led ICC (International Cricket Committee) banned the use of saliva to shine the ball. The practice meant for swing bowling is now primarily held as health risk due to the threats of COVID-19. Why is saliva or sweat used? The swing of the cricket ball is mainly governed by three factors namely shiny side, climatic conditions and behaviour of the pitch. The cricket ball creates turbulence as it swings. The player uses sweat or saliva to make one side look shinier. This helps to create challenging conditions to the batsman.

ICC bans use of saliva to shine a Cricket Ball

The Bundesliga of Germany becomes the world’s first major sports event to resume after COVID-19 lock down. The Bundesliga is the primary football league in Germany. It has the highest stadium attendance worldwide. The game was begun in 1963. The Bundesliga is number one football league in the world in terms of attendance. Bundesliga means “Federal League”. The word is common in countries like Austria and Germany.

Bundesliga of Germany: World’s first sports competition after COVID-19 lock down

On May 12, 2020, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) have rescheduled FIFA Under 17 Women’s World Cup. The game was initially to be conducted on November 2, 2020. Now the postponed game is to be conducted between February 17, 2021 and March 7, 2021. India is to host the game in 2021.

12 मई, 2020 को अखिल भारतीय फुटबॉल महासंघ (एआईएफएफ) और स्थानीय आयोजन समिति (एलओसी) ने फीफा अंडर 17 महिला विश्व कप का पुनर्निर्धारण किया है। खेल शुर ूमे ं2 नवंबर, 2020 को आयोजित किया जाना था। अब स्थगित खेल 17 फरवरी, 2021 और 7 मार्च, 2021 के बीच आयोजित किया जाना है। भारत को 2021 मे ंइस खेल की मेजबानी करनी ह।ै

Under 17 FIFA Women World Cup to begin in 2021

The 2021 Commonwealth Youth Games is being postponed to 2023 as it faced clash of dates with the Tokyo Olympics. The Tokyo Olympics that was scheduled to be held from July 23 to August 8, 2020, was postponed by a year. The Commonwealth Youth Games is an international sport event that is organized by the Commonwealth Games Federation. The first commonwealth games were held in Edinburgh, Scotland.

2021 राष्ट्रमंडल युवा खेलों को 2023 तक स्थगित किया जा रहा ह ैक्योंकि इसमें टोक्यो ओलंपिक के लिए तारीखो ंका टकराव था। टोक्यो ओलंपिक जो 23 जुलाई से 8 अगस्त 2020 तक होन ेवाला था, एक साल के लिए टाल दिया गया था। राष्ट्रमंडल युवा खेल एक अंतर्राष्ट्रीय खेल कार्यक्रम है जिसका आयोजन राष्ट्रमंडल खेल महासंघ द्वारा किया जाता है। पहला आम राष्ट्रमंडल खेल स्कॉटलैंड के एडिनबर्ग में आयोजित किया गया था।

Commonwealth Youth Games postponed to 2023

On April 22, 2020, the World champion P V Sindhu was named the ambassador of the campaign “I am Badminton”. The campaign was launched by Badminton World Federation (BWF). Badminton World Federation The Badminton World Federation is an international governing body of the badminton sport. It was founded by 1934 and has been recognized by the International Olympic Committee.

PV Sindhu named as ambassador in the Badminton World Federation campaign

The National Sports Federation of India recently announced that it is host the Asian Boxing Championship by November-December 2020. Boxing and India India hosted men’s Asia boxing championship in Mumbai in 1980. It hosted the women’s event in Hisar in 2003. Around five men and four women have been qualified for Tokyo Olympics from India so far. Boxing Federation of India BFI is the governing body for Olympic boxing in India. It represents India at the International Boxing Association.

नेशनल स्पोर्ट्स फेडरेशन ऑफ इंडिया ने हाल ही मे ंघोषणा की कि यह नवंबर-दिसंबर 2020 तक एशियाई मुक्केबाजी चैम्पियनशिप की मेजबानी करेगा। बॉक्सिंग और भारत भारत ने 1980 मे ंमुंबई में पुरुषों की एशिया मुक्केबाजी चैंपियनशिप की मेजबानी की। 2003 में हिसार मे ंमहिलाओ ंके आयोजन की मेजबानी की। भारत से टोक्यो ओलंपिक के लिए अब तक लगभग पाँच पुरुष और चार महिलाए ँक्वालीफाई कर चुके हैं। बॉक्सिंग फेडरेशन ऑफ इंडिया BFI भारत में ओलंपिक मुक्केबाजी के लिए शासी निकाय है। यह अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मुक्केबाजी संघ मे ंभारत का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है।

India to host Asian Boxing Championship

International Federation of Association Football has postponed the Under-17 Women’s world cup to November 2020. The Under-20 women’s FIFA world cup was planned to be conducted in Panama Costa Rica. The Under-17 Women’s FIFA world cup was scheduled to be conducted in Indian cities such as Guwahati, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata.

इंटरनेशनल फेडरेशन ऑफ एसोसिएशन फुटबॉल ने अंडर -17 महिलाओ ंके विश्व कप को नवंबर 2020 तक के लिए टाल दिया है। अंडर -20 महिलाओ ंक ेफीफा विश्व कप को पनामा कोस्टा रिका मे ंआयोजित करन ेकी योजना थी। अंडर -17 महिला फीफा विश्व कप भारतीय शहरो ंजैसे गुवाहाटी, नवी मुंबई, अहमदाबाद, भुवनेश्वर और कोलकाता में आयोजित किया जाना था।

The Olympic Council of Asia announced that the third Asian Youth Games is to be held in China in November 2021. The Asian Youth Games is held once in four years. It is organized by the Olympic Council of Asia. It is the second largest sports gamed after the Asian Games. The first Asian Youth Games was held in 2011 in Singapore, later in 2013 in China. Olympic Council of Asia It is the governing body of sports events in Asia.

ओलंपिक परिषद ने एशिया की घोषणा की कि तीसरा एशियाई युवा खेल नवंबर 2021 में चीन में आयोजित किया जाएगा। एशियाई युवा खेलों का आयोजन चार साल में एक बार होता है। इसका आयोजन ओलंपिक काउंसिल ऑफ एशिया द्वारा किया जाता है। यह एशियाई खेलों के बाद दूसरा सबस ेबड़ा खेल है। पहला एशियाई युवा खेल 2011 में सिंगापुर में आयोजित किया गया था, बाद में 2013 में चीन मे।ं एशिया की ओलंपिक परिषद यह एशिया में खेल आयोजनो ंका शासी निकाय है।

Asian Youth Games to be held in China in November 2021

The 2021 World Games that was scheduled to be held in Birmingham, Alabama was postponed to 2022. This is being done to avoid the clash with Tokyo Olympics. The World Games is held once in four years. It features 32 sports that are not a part of the Olympics. These games were scheduled to be conducted in Birmingham, Alabama. The World Games was first held in 1981. It is an international multi-sport event.

बर्मिंघम मे ंहोन ेवाल े2021 के विश्व खेलों, अलबामा को 2022 तक स्थगित कर दिया गया था। यह टोक्यो ओलंपिक के साथ टकराव से बचने के लिए किया जा रहा ह।ै चार साल में एक बार विश्व खेलो ंका आयोजन होता है। इसमे ं32 खेल शामिल हैं जो ओलंपिक का हिस्सा नहीं हैं। य ेखेल बर्मिंघम, अलबामा में आयोजित किए जाने वाले थे। विश्व खेलों का आयोजन पहली बार 1981 में हुआ था। यह एक अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बहु-खेल प्रतियोगिता है।

World Games, 2021 postponed to avoid clash with Tokyo Olympics

On April 1, 2020, Wimbledon was cancelled due to the threats of Corona Virus. This is the first time the tournament is being cancelled since the World War II. Wimbledon was scheduled between June 29, 2020 and July 12, 2020 in the outskirts of London. However, it was cancelled considering lock down situation. Wimbledon Tennis Tournament was first held in 1877. Since then it has been contested every year.

COVID-19: Wimbledon cancelled for the First Time since World Wars

On March 30, 2020 the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) announced that it is suspending all the planned events till June 30, 2020. The decision was taken during the ITTF meeting that was held to discuss the effects of Novel Corona Virus. The ITTF is the governing body of all the national table tennis associations spread all over the world.

The World Governing body FIFA has selected Indian Football Captain Sunil Chhetri among 28 other stars for its campaign. The campaign is to combat COVID-19. The FIFA has joined hands with the World Health Organization to launch an awareness campaign to combat Corona Virus. The campaign is to call people all over the world to stop the spread of the disease. Campaign The campaign is called “Pass the message to kick out Corona Virus”.

Recently, Greece handed over the Olympic Flame to Japan. However, due to the increasing threats of Corona Virus, the International Olympics Committee is considering postponement of 2020 Olympics. The organization might postpone Olympics to 2021. The Olympics Flame Symbol represents the continuity between ancient and modern games. Every year the flame is lit at Olympia, Greece. It is then relayed to the site where the games are to be held. This ceremony is called “Olympics Torch Relay”.

International Olympics Organization to postpone Tokyo Olympics 2020

On the eve of Women’s Day, the final match of T20 (Twenty 20) was held at Melbourne, Australia. India lost the T20 world cup to Australia. The T20 was first introduced in 2003 in England. A T20 match is completed in 90 minutes. The break between the innings is 10 minutes. The T20 is conducted by ICC (International Cricket Council) once in 2 years. ICC The International Cricket Council is the governing body cricket matches. It was founded in 1909.

Australia wins India by 85 runs at Women’s Twenty20 World Cup

The first Khelo India University Games is to be held in Bhuwaneshwar, Odisha. The game is to be launched by PM Modi through video conferencing. More than 3400 athletes in 17 disciplines and from 159 Universities are to participate in the game. This is the first of its kind. Khelo India is a National Programme for Development of Sports.

पहला खेलो इंडिया यूनिवर्सिटी गेम्स ओडिशा के भुवनेश्वर में आयोजित किया जाना है। खेल का शुभारंभ पीएम मोदी द्वारा वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंसिंग के माध्यम से किया जाना है। 17 विषयो ंमें और 159 विश्वविद्यालयो ंसे 3400 से अधिक एथलीटो ंको खेल में भाग लेना है। यह अपनी तरह का पहला कार्यक्रम है। खेल का विकास करने के लिए खेलो इंडिया एक राष्ट्रीय कार्यक्रम है।

First Khelo India University Games to be held in Bhuwaneshwar

On February 13, 2020, the International Hockey Federation named the Indian Hockey captain Manpreet Singh as Player of the Year, 2019. Manpreet is the first Indian to win the title. Manpreet Singh is the Indian National Hockey team captain since 2017. He was named the Indian Squad at the 2016 Summer Olympics. The International Hockey Federation is the governing body of indoor field hockey and field hockey. The headquarters is located in Lausanne, Switzerland.
