Sports Elective 2014/5 Semester 2. Sport Elective as of January 2015 will be offered as an elective focusing on physical training of an individual. The main objective is to: Engage diverse individuals in living, promoting and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through the practice of sports and training. The courses that will be taught are: 1. Week 1 – Introduction to module. 2. Anatomy – This course will give students a basic understanding of how and what they are made of, making them aware of their bodies from a health conscious perspective. 3. Exercise Physiology – This course will cover the functionality of one’s body to exercise. Principles and guidelines will allow the individual to be conscious of what he expects from his body based on the level of training. 4. Principles of Training– This course allows the individual to apply basic principles of training to make his workout efficient, effective and safe. Simple methods and planning of training will be emphasized on in this course. 5. Sports Nutrition – This course educates the individual on the different types of food used to aid one’s performance. It will emphasize on diet plans, weight control and strategic management of hydration.

The courses that will be taught are:

6. Sports Health This course will allow the individual to be cognizant of the processing of a health check before engaging in any sport or exercise program. It will emphasize on common health issues that plague performance in training and sports.

7. Revision Units 1 5 (interactive discussions)

8. Sports Psychology This course will educate you on the types psychological strategies used to assist ones performance in training and sport. A special subtopics will be on allowing the mind to do the work.

9. Sports Medicine and Injury Prevention This course will attend to various methods used in, diagnosing, prescribing and treating various injuries that occur during play or exercise.

10. Management of Fitness This course emphatically addresses the concepts and techniques used for assessing health factors such as: blood pressure, BMI, strength, flexibility and endurance.

11. Doping This course addresses the WADA rules and regulations set for athletes and other individuals who participate in WADA approved activities.
