TRIP TO SINGAPOREBy Patricia Pereira, Kelab Sukan & Sosial Bina Puri

Bina Puri Sport & Social Club (KSSBP) organiseda 3-day trip to Singapore from 11th to 13thNovember 2011. There were 125 participantsjoining the trip which consisted of Bina Puri staffand their family members.

On the first day, they began their journey by busas early as 5:30am from Bina Puri headquarters inSelangor. Upon arrival in Singapore, they spenttheir time visiting Esplanade – Theatres on theBay, which is one of the world's busiest artscentres located at the mouth of the SingaporeRiver. Then, they visited the Merlion Park, apopular tourist attraction where the Merlion islocated. The Merlion is a statue of a creature witha lion’s head and the body of a fish. Beforechecking into the hotel, they spent their eveningshopping at the China Town.

The second day was the most interesting daywhere they spent the entire day at the UniversalStudios Singapore. There were a total of 24attractions there with seven uniquely themedzones. The park was just too huge that one dayalone was insufficient to cover all the zones.

On the last day, after having their breakfast, theytook the bus departing for Kuala Lumpur. Theyexperienced a very entertaining time andSingapore will always be on their mind. A placeworth visiting again in the future.

A total of 20 participantscomprising of KSSBP Sabah’smembers and their family memberstook part in this trip to Pulau Tiga(Survivor Island). The trip was from16th to 17th September 2011.Among the activities organised forthe participants include jungletrekking, mud volcano bathing,swimming and beach sports.

The Sports Club for Sungai Long Industries’ Staff(KSKSLI) organised a Karaoke Contest and Dinneron 5th November 2011 at Sungai Long Quarry inHulu Langat, Selangor. Lebuhraya LATAR telah menghantaratletnya dalam Kejohanan BolaSepak (Sembilan Sebelah) dan BolaJaring Piala Ketua Pengarah LLM2011 anjuran Lembaga LebuhrayaMalaysia (LLM) pada 29 Oktober2011 yang lalu. Kejohanan ini turutdisertai oleh 31 wakil-wakil syarikat

konsesi dibawah selian LembagaLebuhraya Malaysia. Kejohanansatu hari itu telah menyaksikanpasukan LATAR mempamerkansemangat juang serta kesukananyang tinggi. Walaupun tidakmemenangi sebarang pingat tetapipasukan LATAR yang masih barutetap memberikan sokongan kepadakejohanan ini.

“Experience the most importantoperational activities of LATARExpressway….” that described theaction of the senior management ofLATAR Expressway who completedtheir task and duties as the TollOperators in two separate sessionsrecently.

The task and duties were shared bythe Managing Director, Y.Bhg Dato’Mohamed Raffe Chekku, ExecutiveDirector, Mr Matthew Tee, CEO, EnAmran Amir and the Head ofDepartments of KL-Kuala SelangorExpressway Berhad.

They started as early as 4.30 amwith a short briefing session by theToll Supervisors and completed theirduties at 3.00 pm. This is the onlytime where all the bosses and HODbeen “instructed” by a group ofstaff and supervisors manning thetoll plazas.

It was a great effort by the SeniorManagement of LATAR Expresswayto experience the main operationalactivities. Earlier, they also attended2-days training on hospitalitymanagement.

31 students who achieved excellent results in2010 UPSR, PMR and SPM examinations werehonoured in a ceremony organised at Bina Puriheadquarters at Selayang, Selangor on 18th July2011.

These excellent students were the children ofBina Puri’s staff. They received cash rewards of upto RM350 for the UPSR examinations, up toRM480 for the PMR examinations, and up toRM1,000 for the SPM qualifiers, depending onnumber of A’s they scored. Meanwhile, in theceremony, four Bina Puri staff received the staffeducation incentives of RM1,000 each for theirsuccessful completion in diploma studies. Theywere Salbiah Binti Ramli, Yeo Ing Won, A. The all-in-one training wasaimed at ensuring Bina Puri improves itsstandards in complying with customers andstakeholders satisfaction.

Bina Puri has undergone a series ofcommunication training to its staff in Malaysiathroughout the year 2011.

As the organisation grows bigger, there is a greatdemand to strengthen its internalcommunication.

“New staff are coming in and more newportfolios are created in our organization such asproperty development, hospitality and utiliessectors”, said Puan Surati Sujor, Senior Managerof Group Corporate Communication, Training &Insurance of Bina Puri, in indication to thealarming demand to streamline internalcommunication in Bina Puri.

Five sessions of communication training wereconducted covering 210 staff. They learned theNeuro-linguistic programming approach indealing with people and they were taught abouthuman profiling in communication.

By having the training, we hope that the staff canmanage their communication professionally infacing the more complex and competitivebusiness operations nowadays.
