Our celebration begins with the High Gear Dialogue, a private, invitation-only lunchtime forum for approximately 30 of Canada’s political leaders, visionaries and corporate chiefs to engage in meaningful, free-flowing dialogue. One senior representative from each Presenting and Gold sponsor is invited to join in the discussion.
This year, the topic to be explored is community empowerment, which builds on the concept of the “duty to engage” from last year’s session. By further dissecting this duty and its role, participants will have the opportunity to better discern how to harness the power of community to foster healthier living in a healthier environment.

The Gala evening opens with a networking reception during which guests are invited to visit “Main Street,” where exhibitors will showcase how they, too, are Committed to Community. Widely regarded as a highlight of the evening, exhibitors include Presenting and Gold sponsors, who may choose to donate their space to community projects close to their hearts. In addition, student groups will showcase their take on community empowerment.

The evening continues with the Gala Dinner, which is designed to allow guests time to network. We pride ourselves on making this experience all about the 500 or so incredible people in the room. The Dinner also features the presentation of the annual Pollution Probe Award.

Pollution Probe is pleased to announce that Medicine Hat is the recipient of the 2015 Pollution Probe Award. The community’s efforts to end homelessness are an inspiring example of what can be achieved when local groups are empowered to make positive, tangible change.
Pollution Probe believes that human health is at the core of sustainable development, and relies on communities such as Medicine Hat that are engaged, empowered and vibrant.
In 2009, Medicine Hat developed a five-year strategy to end homelessness. From 2009 to 2015, 931 formerly homeless individuals have been housed in Medicine Hat, including 291 children. Medicine Hat is on track to meet its goal to end homelessness by the end of this year.
The award will be accepted at the 2015 Gala by Jaime Rogers of the Medicine Hat Community Housing Society on behalf of the community of partners, supporters and volunteers that contributed to the success of Medicine Hat’s housing first initiative.
