We run the world’s biggest 48hr short filmmaking challenge which discovered Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Rogue One) and Daisy Ridley (Star Wars).
It has seen 8 new features films made by alumna and we’ve even had the first film ever made by an A.I.
Thousands of filmmakers take part each time and we have created over 1200 original sci-fi films.
Many go on to appear in other festivals and have won several awards.

Each year, the challenge produces around 130 films in one weekend.
The challenge jury is made up of industry judges, who have included Frank Spotnitz (Producer, The Man in the High Castle), Benedict Cumberbatch (Actor), Guillermo Del Toro (Director, The Shape of Water) and Ben Roberts (Head of BFI Film Fund).
Shortlisted films are featured on our sponsors and partner’s websites and all films go on social sites and watchscifi.com.

1. Teams receive: • The TITLE of their film• A line of DIALOGUE• A PROP or action list
