The Institution of Surveyors NSW, the Association of Consulting Surveyors NSW and the Spatial Industries Business Association (SIBA) would like to invite you to participate in the 2016 Awards for Excellence in Surveying and Spatial Information. 2016 will be the nineteenth year for this hugely successful awards night, which attracts hundreds of key organisations and individuals from the surveying profession and extended industry.

Now recognised as a major event on the industry calendar, the dinner not only provides an opportunity to highlight contributions made by individuals and firms, but also creates an effective platform for the promotion of businesses via sponsorship opportunities. Environment and SustainabilityThis award recognises those individuals or companies that have aided in the protection of our natural resources and contributed to the sustainability of our planet. You may have developed spatial products or programs that resolve allocation or protection of natural resources, provided management of an environmental related issue to ensure positive environmental outcomes or undertaken the design of projects that contribute to the environmental improvement and amenity of a locality.

People and CommunityThis award recognises those projects that demonstrate your use of spatial information or tools to provide solutions to communities at a local, regional or national level. The services provided could include educational programs, emergency management, defence, security & safety.

Innovation and CommercialisationThis award recognises how innovative techniques contribute to the ecomonic performance of industry and solve unusual problems. The techniques may include the adapted use of an existing surveying or spatial solution or development of a new methodology or product to provide social, environmental or commercial benefit.

Spatial EnablementThis award recognises how the application of surveying, spatial information, mapping, cartography, design, planning and software development have improved the outcomes of a project, process or product.

Technical ExcellenceThis award recognises products or projects that implemented surveying or spatial solutions to an exceptionally high technical standard, overcoming significant technical or site challenges to deliver outstanding results for the client. This category focuses on excellence in applying existing technology in contrast to the Innovation Award.

Project ManagementThis award recognises the skills, knowledge and techniques used by an individual or organisation to manage a surveying, spatial or development project to deliver the desired outcomes to the client.

Young Professional of the Year AwardPreference will be given to those nominees who have been particularly active in their promotion and support of the profession in the last twelve months. TAFE Student of the YearRepresentatives from the TAFE system are invited to nominate the top TAFE student from New South Wales currently studying a Survey or Mapping course, who will be awarded TAFE Surveying Student of the Year.

University Student of the YearUniversity students residing in New South Wales are invited to submit their final year projects for consideration.

Journalist of the YearThe New South Wales Excellence in Surveying & Spatial Industries Awards Committee will accept nominations and consider recognising a media person who has contributed to the promotion of the profession in local or national media.
