Knight Letter

The KC Charity Fish Fry Friday, November 30th!

Mark your calendars now!

Grand Knight’s Column

From your Grand Knight: I would first like to thank all of the knights that were able to come to our annual pilgrimage to Holy Hill. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy lives to make this a success for our council. Brothers let’s look forward to next year so we can get more that 8 knights there so that the ones that do go don’t have to do all 3 masses. I went to the diocesan meeting, a week ago and they were pushing the membership and insurance. I did learn that the insurance is a big part of our charity that it is the reason that we can get the matching funds for the ultra sound machines that we get for the pregnancy centers. I thought that that was interesting. I brought up about the letter I got in email about helping the church. I was told that I should contact the state for guidance. Now I know when I have questions where to go and I will not be afraid to bother them. Last but not least, we have the memorial mass for our fallen brothers coming up soon and we still have no one to set up the luncheon after the mass. Can someone please come forward and help set this up? Dr. Mark Knabel has everything you need to get this set up. Please let me know if you can help with this matter.

Chaplain’s Column Brother Knights and Families,

I am beginning my October article with a short history of our Council’s dedication to the Blessed Virgin Mary. October is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary whose feast day is October 7th. This feast was instituted by Pope Saint Pius V on the anniversary of the navel victory won by the Christian forces over a powerful pagan force in 1571, in Lepanto. The victory was attributed to the Mother of God, whose aid had been involved through the Holy Rosary. The celebration is a stimulus for all to meditate on the mysteries of Christ under the guidance of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who was so closely associated with the incarnation, passion and glorious resurrection of the Son of God. Whether we pray the Rosary regularly, occasionally or not at all, the mysteries of the Rosary challenge us to live our life in imitation of Christ’s truths. What does that mean to us? This is a brief explanation from the “Loose-Leaf Lectionary.”

Autumn Prayer Rev. Doug Leonhardt, S.J.

God of all seasons, we thank you for Autumn. We thank you for the touch of coolness in the air that gives us a new burst of energy, for the coloring of trees that shows the creativity of the Divine Artist, for the falling leaves that reveal the strength of the branches, for the hues of fields that bring peace to our souls, for the smiles on pumpkins that bring joy to children, for the fall harvest which brings us gratitude for the bounty of our land, for this change of seasons that reveals the circle of life. God of all seasons, as you transform the earth, transform us by your Spirit. Amen. Blessings, Fr. Dick

Fourth Degree News From Your Faithful Navigator

Sir Knights and Ladies,

I have noticed the daylight gives way to night time quicker in the evenings and the air is cooler at times. Sure signs of fall. The Fourth Degree Veterans Fundraiser is continuing well. Parishes and Councils are donating. Special thanks to Larry Lenhardt for Co-chairing and helping coordinate the Southside Operation. Of course, a huge thanks to the Scouts again this year! They represent the best of our future. Jackie and I had a chance to meet with a few of the Sheboygan Police Department’s officers at a school gathering recently. We discussed what some of their experiences have been and some of what happens “behind the scenes” for them. Law enforcement officers put their lives on the line for us every day. I am very proud that we support their future with the Police\Fire Scholarship. A reminder, the Fourth Degree Fall Exemplification will be held Saturday, October 6, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Kaudy Hall, Winneconnee. Assembly 1204 expects to welcome a new member from the Plymouth Council. The next Assembly 1204 Membership Meeting takes place on Wednesday, October 17th at Millhome near Kiel. Social 6; Dinner 7. Campus Corner - CCA The school year is off and running, classes resumed on September 4, with an all school

assembly and prayer service. Our current enrollment this school year is 155 students. We are

looking forward to a faith-filled school year! Our students are especially excited about the new

playground equipment that was purchased with monies from our Winter Extravaganza

fundraiser last February. We now have a volleyball net, a gaga pit (dodgeball area), and new

soccer nets. We were also able to add additional Google Chromebooks this year. We can now

supply an individual Chromebook for each of our 4-8 graders, with an additional cart to share

among the K-3 classrooms. This one-to-one technology allows students and teachers to utilize

the vast amount of online resources with ease.

The Christ Child Academy Student Service Council will once again be collecting coats for the

annual Coats for drive. Any gently used coats, hats, gloves, or scarves can be dropped off in

the barrel at the school’s main entrance, or in the IC gatherering space, now through October

31st. In particular, there is a great need for children’s coats. Boots are no longer requested.

This project allows our students to really be a part of giving as Christ asks us to. Thanks for your

support!

On Friday, September 21, the kindergarten class visited Whispering Orchards in Cleveland.

Students were able to observe bees at work, walk through the orchard, see and taste a variety

of apples, and observe an apple cider press.

The 7/8 grade CCA Volleyball Tournament was held September 21 & 22. There were seven

teams in the two day tournament. Our CCA girls finished 4th overall. Congratulations to all the

teams who competed and displayed great sportsmanship.

The Sheboygan Fire Department will be conducting safety and fire prevention education for

Kindergarten through 4th grade during the months of September and October. The education

program is valuable for reinforcement of fire safety messages for children as they grow and

develop safe behaviors.

CCA is partnering again this year with the St. Peter Claver Food Pantry. Our food drive to

benefit the pantry begins October 1st and runs through November 20. All grades 5-8 will also be

spending two Mondays at the pantry helping to sort and distribute food to those in need. This

project is an excellent way to show our students the need in our community and to instill

empathy and a love of service.

8th graders will be participating in a STEM day at the Kohler Company on October 3. This day is

designed to get young people interested and informed about Science, Technology, Engineering,

and Math based careers.
