From your Grand Knight: Well it is November and the leaves are changing colors and falling off the trees, the change of season is in the air. Our next big event is Thanksgiving! The time to get together with family and remember all the good times and fun we have being together. Then we sit down to a fantastic meal, watch football, play cards, and maybe make some plans for black Friday shopping. This seems to be what a lot of households will be doing during this thanksgiving break. Brothers please take some time alone or with your family to

Chaplain’s Column Brother Knights and Families,

November is usually dedicated to the “Poor Souls” since Nov. 2nd was the feast of All Souls Day. On Nov.1st was the feast of All Saint’s. This is a good time to briefly review our Catholic truth of the Communion of All Saints. This is the unity of the Saints in heaven, the souls in purgatory, and the living believers on earth. The following is taken from the report entitled “Understanding the Communion of Saints” written by David Werning in the Nov. 19th – 25th, 2018 issue of Our Sunday Visitor. Catholics believe that life continues after death and that communion exists among those who have not rejected Jesus. This bond is not destroyed by death because Jesus conquered death’s power through his resurrection. The Church’s rich teaching on the Communion of Saints is first and foremost a recognition of the Holy Trinity’s deep love for each and every human being. Jesus has provided the goods of salvation through which he has built up a holy people, the visible face of whom is the Church. A short list of the “goods of salvation” are the sacraments, spiritual and corporal works of mercy, beatitudes, the theological and moral virtues, the Mass and prayer. The Church, grounding its teaching in the words of Christ, has taught always the communion of the saints is experienced in three states, the earth pilgrimage, the purification in purgatory; and the glory of heaven. Receiving the sacraments well is manifested by the believer through the indisputable proof of active charity. Charity is one of the goods of salvation that is given freely because it has been received without cost. And by “charity” the Church does not mean simply a token gift from a person with nothing. Rather “charity” means an offering of one’s whole self to others for the good of all. The Church teaches that there are people who enjoy the glory of heaven now. The Church recognizes that some people yielded themselves so completely to Christ while living on earth that they entered into God’s presence immediately after death. The person who never gives in to constant moral sin and tries to change for the better, all the while being attentive to the needs of others may die with the need for further growth. The Church calls this state of purification “purgatory”. Purgatory is not a state of punishment. It is accurately seen as a place where God purifies and makes people ready to enjoy full and eternal communion with him. Have a blessed Thanksgiving. Remember those in need. Fr. Dick

thank the Lord for all of the blessings that you have received this year. I am going to try something new with my family this year. Before we pray and eat a wonderful meal I am going to ask everyone to express one blessing that they are thankful for. I will see how this goes. I am looking forward to this bringing my family closer together. Brothers, I have a lot to be thank full for! My family, my faith, my health, my church family, and you my brothers. I would not be where I am today if it were not for all of these things in my life. I could go on with more things that I am thankful for but the editor would like me to keep my article to a reasonable size. May everyone have a wonderful thanksgiving, and may the Lord bless your families. Vivat Jesus, Grand Knight, Larry Fouts

Fourth Degree News From Your Faithful Navigator

Sir Knights and Ladies,

Sincere thanks to all our veterans. Your Service has allowed us the freedom we enjoy. Veteran’s Day 2018 is Sunday, November 11th. It is also observed November 12th. Be sure to thank the veterans near you. Our assembly lost Past Faithful Navigator and Area Coordinator James Faller during October. Jim and Cindy Faller organized the Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser held each Spring. Jim was a member of the Fourth Degree Honor Guard and helped mentor our assembly’s Faithful Navigators since his time of service. Jim had also served in the armed services. At his funeral Mass, along with his family, Jim received an American Legion Honor Guard, Fourth Degree Honor Guard led by our District Master and a Former Master, Council 1789 Honor Guard, and full military honors. Any attendee knew Jim Faller was a man of faith and dedicated service. Our Knight family will continue to pray for Jim and Cindy and all their family. On Priesthood Sunday, October 28, SK Larry Lenhardt, SK Larry Fouts, and SK Ken Lichteig served as Honor Guard for a memorial candle lighting Mass at Holy Name Parish in Sheboygan. During this November, remember to pray for the souls in Purgatory. The Church fully recognizes the Fatima Apparitions where the three children were shown Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory. God wanted to show humanity these places are real. The next Assembly 1204 Membership Meeting takes place on Wednesday, November 28th at the KC Center. Social 6; Dinner 7.

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in

battle, be our protection against the

wickedness and snares of the devil. May

God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do

thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the

power of God, cast into hell Satan and all

the evil spirits who prowl about the world

seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Campus Corner - CCA The 8th grade class visited Kohler Company on October 3. The tour focused on careers in

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The students learned about the

great opportunities around STEM in high school, as well as introducing them to careers in these

areas.

Since 2001, Catholic Women's Charity Club has donated over $125,000.00 to the Catholic

schools and religious education programs of the Catholic parishes of Sheboygan County. In

September, Beaty Ristow and Mary Krepsky, representing the Catholic Women's Charity Club,

presented CCA with a donation after Mass. We appreciate the continued support from this

wonderful club and look forward to using the funds to enhance our STEM (Science, Technology,

Engineering and Math) programs at CCA.

CCA students in grades 5 – 8 will again take turns participating in the St. Peter Claver Food

Pantry each month. The SPC Food Pantry will play a large part in how we prepare students to

live as Christ did. Students will volunteer in the pantry, sorting, boxing, distributing, and helping

to carry items out for patrons. What a great way for our students to garner first-hand experience

in having a positive impact in our community. CCA students begin collecting for the Food Pantry

starting October 30 and continuing through Thanksgiving. Our goal is to collect at least 1,000

items for the pantry.

CCA recently completed Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences. The conferences give the

opportunity to open the lines of communication with parents and to share the students' progress

since the beginning of school.

The annual 8th Grade CANDY SALE has begun! Proceeds from this sale help defray

graduation expenses. As in the past years, delicious SEROOGY chocolates will be available for

you to order from any CCA 8th grade student with delivery the week of November 5th. Items

available for order include SEROOGY boxed Chocolates, SEROOGY Fudge Trays, a variety of

SEROOGY Candy Bars, SEROOGY Gourmet Coffee, and SEROOGY "Santa Claus" and

"Snowman" chocolate novelties, these items make excellent gifts and/or stocking stuffers for

those "hard-to-buy-for" people on your holiday shopping list! (People who have tried

SEROOGY candy items will attest to the quality, freshness, and value of their products.) Please

contact a CCA 8th grader or the school office if you are interested in placing an order.

The 2019 Calendar Raffles are now on sale! The cash payout is $30 every school day and

$200 on special holidays. The cost per calendar is $20. The calendar raffles can be purchased

in the school or church offices and will soon be available after weekend Masses.

The CCA Middle School students spent the morning at Sheboygan Progressive Care Center on

Friday, October 26. The students visited with the residents and decorated pumpkins with them.

This annual activity gives the students the opportunity to interact with, and brighten the days of

some of the elderly of our community.

Christ Child Academy students and staff celebrated the month of the rosary by participating in

the “Living Rosary” in the IC church on Friday, October 26. The elementary students planned

and led the meditation.

Congratulations to 8th grader, Ruby Jesion and 6th grader Luke Hand, who were winners in the

Sheboygan Press Spooky Essay Contest. Ruby took 1st place, and Luke was the Honorable

Mention awardee. The contest was open to all area students. All CCA middle school students

wrote and submitted an essay as part of their English class. Thanks go to Mrs. Scharenbroch

for engaging our students in authentic writing experiences!

Happy Fall to all! Quarter 1 ends November 2!
