Method
We cast a wide net in our search for those applying informa-tion technology to the healthcare industry in various ways. In fact, it was too wide of a net to capture everything all at once, so we reeled things back a bit for this first release. We decided to take a phased approach towards it all, to break it down. This first version is focused specifically on privately held product based companies headquartered in Minnesota, those who have developed proprietary software and/or hard-ware technology. It began, at the highest level, with approx-imately 75 companies identified. Each was contacted with an opportunity to participate for free; some did opt-in and some did not, though they will have another chance come version 2.0 in approximately 90 days, and so on.
Participating companies provided very detailed information around the vitals that drive their business models, and their privacy around certain intimate aspects is highly respected. Future releases will include more companies, new analysis, and the inclusion of other market segments such as: ser-vice-based agencies, publicly traded companies, investment firms, and other various tangentially related organizations.
