• The l sound is similar to the l sound in English
(lamb, left, limit, local, lunch, fall, meal, mile, tool, vestibule).
• The ll sound is similar to the y sound in English when at the beginning of a word.
(yard, yesterday, your, youth).
**When the English y is in the middle or at the end of a word it has an /i/ sound and therefore does not sound like the Spanish/ll/.
