DESCRIPTION
Fault code of QST 30TRANSCRIPT
Overview
Circuit Description
The ECM3 lights an amber lamp when ECM1 and/or ECM2 have a Moderately Severe Fault.
Component Location
The ECMs are located on the rear of the engine. ECM1, ECM2, and ECM3 are located above the flywheel housing at the rear of the engine. Refer to Procedure 100-002 for detailed component locations.
Shop Talk
There are multiple ECMs for the engine model included in this manual. Each ECM has an individual source address that displays when INSITE™ electronic service tool is connected. When troubleshooting a fault code, use the source address displayed in INSITE™ electronic

service tool to determine which ECM and circuit is affected.
The ECM3 contains status information about ECM1 and ECM2. When ECM1 and ECM2 have a Moderately Severe Fault Code, ECM3 will recognize this and light an amber lamp. When the Fault Code 1518 is flashed out it means that ECM1 and/or ECM2 have at least one Moderately Severe Fault Code. Fault Code 1518 will be flashed out, not the individual fault codes that are causing Fault Code 1518. Since Fault Code 1518 can represent more than one Moderately Severe Fault Code, INSITE™ electronic service tool can be connected in order to read the fault code(s) causing Fault Code 1518 and to troubleshoot accordingly.
Possible causes of this fault code include:
ECM1 and/or ECM2 have at least one Moderately Severe Fault Code (Amber).
