Constraint Type
• As Soon As Possible (ASAP) • As Late As Possible (ALAP) • Finish No Later Than (FNLT) • Start No Later Than (SNLT) • Finish No Earlier Than (FNET) • Start No Earlier Than (SNET) • Must Start On (MSO) • Must Finish On (MFO)

• As Soon As Possible (ASAP) With this constraint, Microsoft Project schedules
the task as early as it can • As Late As Possible (ALAP) With this constraint, Microsoft Project schedules
the task as late as it can • Finish No Later Than (FNLT) This constraint indicates the latest possible date
that you want this task to be completed
![Page 19: SPM MS PROJECT 2007](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022042603/55cf9792550346d033925ae6/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)
• Start No Later Than (SNLT) This constraint indicates the latest possible date
that you want this task to begin. • Finish No Earlier Than (FNET) This constraint indicates the earliest possible
date that you want this task to be completed • Start No Earlier Than (SNET)This constraint indicates the earliest possible
date that you want this task to begin

• Must Start On (MSO) This constraint indicates the exact date on which a
task must be scheduled to begin
• Must Finish On (MFO) This constraint indicates the exact date on which a
task must be scheduled to be completed

Resource Types
• WHAT -> WHEN -> WHO• There are three types of resources:
– Work– Material– Cost
![Page 22: SPM MS PROJECT 2007](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022042603/55cf9792550346d033925ae6/html5/thumbnails/22.jpg)

What is Resource?
• A resource is the person(s), equipment, or materials used to complete a task in a project.
• The Resource Sheet is commonly used for entering the resources.
![Page 24: SPM MS PROJECT 2007](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022042603/55cf9792550346d033925ae6/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)

Using The Resource Information Dialog Box
• The Resource Information dialog box is a comprehensive collection of all of the data stored for a single resource.
• You can make changes to:– Email– Notes– Resource Availability Dates– Holidays– Costs– And many more!

Over Allocation
• Over Allocation is when a project calls for more time than a team member has.
• Over Allocation can be solved by number of ways for example:– Changing the relationships i.e. (SS, FS, SF, FF)– Changing lag to “zero” or change it to lead – Changing working time– Changing Units – Adding extra overtime hours to that particular
resource
![Page 32: SPM MS PROJECT 2007](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022042603/55cf9792550346d033925ae6/html5/thumbnails/32.jpg)
Shortening Critical Paths
• Critical Path– the critical path is the sequence of tasks that is
nothing but back-to-back work, with no slack, which you can subtract to reduce the duration
• How to shorten the Critical Path
– Adding more resources– Changing relationship type
![Page 33: SPM MS PROJECT 2007](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022042603/55cf9792550346d033925ae6/html5/thumbnails/33.jpg)
Splitting Tasks
• Either you want to interrupt some work with an other (By You)
• Or by leveling the resource to maintain the work balance (By the system) Split Button
![Page 34: SPM MS PROJECT 2007](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022042603/55cf9792550346d033925ae6/html5/thumbnails/34.jpg)

Resource Levelling• Resource leveling can help project managers
resolve over allocations by delaying or splitting up tasks.
![Page 36: SPM MS PROJECT 2007](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022042603/55cf9792550346d033925ae6/html5/thumbnails/36.jpg)

Baseline
• The baseline is nothing else than a frozen picture of your project at a certain point time.
• In Microsoft Project 2007 you are able to have up to 11 different baselines in a project.
• You should only re-baseline when you have major changes in your project such as; delays, overrun of budget or loss of key resources.
