Who Can Grow Spiritually?

Spiritual growth can only happen in a person who knows

Jesus Christ as their Lord & Savior.

Crecimiento espiritual solamente puede ocurrir en una persona que conoce a Jesucristo como Señor y

Salvador.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the

old has gone, the new has come.” - 2 Corinthians 5:17

“De modo que si alguno está en Cristo, nueva criatura es: las cosas viejas pasaron; todas son hechas nuevas.” - 2 Corinthians 5:17

When you are in Christ, the Holy Spirit dwells in you.

Your old nature is replaced by a new one that is under

the influence of God’s Spirit.

Cuando estas en Cristo, el Espíritu Santo mora en ti. La vieja naturaleza es cambiado

por una nueva bajo la influencia del Espíritu de Dios.

Growing in the knowledge & understanding of God.

Growing in your faith and trust in God.

Growing in your relationship with God.

Becoming more like Christ.

The Spirit Of God Helps Us Grow

9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We

continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord

and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work,

growing in the knowledge of God,

El Espíritu De Dios Nos Ayuda Crecer

9 Por eso, desde el día en que lo supimos no hemos dejado de

orar por ustedes. Pedimos que Dios les haga conocer

plenamente su voluntad con toda sabiduría y comprensión espiritual,10 para que vivan de

manera digna del Señor, agradándole en todo. Esto

implica dar fruto en toda buena obra, crecer en el conocimiento

de Dios.

Walking In The Spirit Is Key To Spiritual Growth

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the

Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other,

so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you

are not under the law.

24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk

in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

Caminando En El Espíritu Es Clave Para El Crecimiento Espiritual

16 Digo, pues: Andad en el Espíritu, y no satisfagáis los deseos de la carne, 17 porque el deseo de la carne es contra el Espíritu y el

del Espíritu es contra la carne; y estos se oponen entre sí, para que no hagáis lo que

quisierais. 18 Pero si sois guiados por el Espíritu, no estáis bajo la Ley.

Spiritual growth is a daily process where the works of the

flesh (Galatians 5:19-21) manifest less and the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23)

manifest more. The Holy Spirit is the one who

produces the fruit of spiritual growth in our lives, but only if we

submit ourselves to Him.

How does spiritual growth look like? Read Galatians 5:22-23

El crecimiento espiritual es un proceso diario donde las obras

de la carne (Gálatas 5:19-21) se manifiestan meno y el fruto del

Espíritu (Gálatas 5:22-23) se manifiestan mas.

Es el Espíritu Santo quien produce el fruto del crecimiento espiritual

en nuestras vidas, pero sólo si nos sometemos a Él.

16 ”All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in

righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

– 2Timothy 3:16-17

Learning to grow spiritually is a life-long journey which occurs when we read, study and apply God’s Word in

our lives.

We must be taught, rebuked, corrected, and trained by God's Word. Then we will be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

This is the essence of spiritual growth.

16 ”Toda la Escritura es inspirada por Dios y útil para enseñar, para redargüir, para corregir, para instruir en justicia, 17 a fin de que el hombre de Dios sea perfecto, enteramente preparado

para toda buena obra.”– 2Timoteo 3:16-17

Aprendiendo a crecer espiritualmente es una jornada de vida larga que ocurre cuando leemos, estudiamos y aplicamos la Palabra de

Dios en nuestras vidas.

Tenemos que ser enseñados, redargüido, corregido e instruido por la Santa Palabra de Dios. Entonces seremos equipados por completo para toda buena obra. Esto es la esencia del crecimiento espiritual.

23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after

looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what

they do - James 1:23-25

God works in different ways in different people. Some grow rapidly, while others grow slowly. Our focus should not be in comparing

ourselves to others, but in comparing ourselves to the Word of God.

The Word of God is the mirror that reveals to us our spiritual condition. Therefore, let us spend more time in the Word.

Dios obra de diferente maneras en personas diferente. Algunos crecen rápido, mientras otros crecen lentamente. Nuestro enfoque

no debe de ser en compararnos con otros, sino en compararnos con la Palabra de Dios.

La Palabra de Dios es el espejo que revela nuestra condición espiritual. Así que, vamos a pasar mas tiempo en la Palabra.

Sometimes a lack of faith comes from not spending enough time in the Word. To constantly grow in faith we must constantly be in

the Word.

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”- Romans 10:17 Una carencia de fe viene a veces de no pasar bastante tiempo en

la palabra. Para crecer constantemente en la fe debemos constantemente estar en la palabra.

“Así que la fe es por el oír, y el oír, por la palabra de Dios.”- Romanos 10:17

To Obey Is Better Than Sacrifice (1Samuel 15:22)

Obedience to God’s Word is necessary for spiritual growth. Our love and faith in God is shown through our obedience in

Him.

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments”- John 14:15

Heaven itself is reserved for the obedient.

“Not everyone that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but

he that does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”- Matthew 7:21

The disobedient person only fool themselves. Hearing God’s Word is not enough!

“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding (deceiving) your own selves.”

- James 1:22

La Obediencia Es Mejor Que El Sacrificio (1Samuel 15:22)

La obediencia a la Palabra de Dios es necesaria para el crecimiento espiritual. Nuestro amor y fe en Dios se

demuestra con nuestra obediencia en Él.

“Si ustedes me aman, obedecerán mis mandamientos.”- Juan 14:15

El cielo en sí mismo es reservado para el obediente.

“No todo el que me dice: "Señor, Señor", entrará en el reino de los cielos, sino sólo el que hace la voluntad de mi Padre que está en el cielo.”

- Mateo 7:21

La persona desobediente se engaña a ellos mismo. ¡No basta con solo oír la Palabra de Dios!

“No se contenten sólo con escuchar la palabra, pues así se engañan ustedes mismos. Llévenla a la práctica.”

- Santiago 1:22

Everyone goes through trials. It is not the trials alone that makes us grow spiritually, but rather what we do in the midst of our trials. It is important to obey God’s Word and walk in faith at

all times.

“Knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.”- James 1:3

Todo el mundo pasa por pruebas. No son las pruebas nada mas que te hace crecer espiritualmente, sino lo que hacemos en medio de las pruebas. Es importante obedecer la Palabra de

Dios y andar en fe en todo tiempo.

“Sabiendo que la prueba de vuestra fe produce paciencia.”- Santiago 1:3

Growing near to God in prayer will help us grow spiritually. Prayer is communicating with God and getting closer to His presence as a result. If we want to grow we

have to pray.

“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you…”

– James 4:8

Acercándonos a Dios en oración nos ayuda crecer espiritualmente. La Oración es comunicación con Dios con el resultado de acercarnos mas a El. Si queremos crecer,

tenemos que orar.

“Acercaos a Dios, y Él se acercará a vosotros…”

Some use prayer as a last resort, when the Bible tells us to seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; knowing

that everything else will be added unto us (Mat. 6:33). People tend to go to their friends, pastor, counselor, doctor, face book, twitter and everything else first

before finally coming to God. The Bible also tells us to watch and pray

(Mat. 26:41; 1Pt. 5:8). The enemy

doesn’t want us to grow spiritually! We need to always pray

(Luke 18:1; Eph. 6:18; 1Thes. 5:17).

Algunos usan la oración como el ultimo recurso, cuando la Biblia dice que

debemos buscar primero el reino de Dios, y Su justicia; sabiendo que todo lo demás nos será añadida(Mateo 6:33). La gente

tiende a ir a sus amigos, pastor, consejero, doctor, al internet y a todo lo

demás antes de venir a Dios. La Biblia también dice que debemos

de velad y orad(Mateo 26:41;

1Pd. 5:8). ¡El enemigo no quiere

que crecemos espiritualmente!

Necesitamos siempre orar (Lucas 18:1; Ef. 6:18; 1Tes.

5:17).

Not forgiving others can impede your spiritual growth. Forgiving others, and being forgiven yourself will not only help you grow spiritually, but will give you a sense of

freedom and allow you to go forward in Christ.

“Don’t be angry with each other, but forgive each other. If you feel someone has wronged you, forgive them. Forgive others because the Lord forgave you.”

- Colossians 3:13

Forgiveness is not just something we do for other people. We do it for ourselves – to get well and move on. It is something we do

by faith, out of obedience.

“And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your

sins.”- Mark 11:25

No perdonar a los demás puede impedir su crecimiento espiritual. Perdonar a los demás, y ser perdonando a ti mismo, no sólo le ayudara a crecer espiritualmente, pero

le dará una sensación de libertad y le permitirá seguir adelante en Cristo.

“de modo que se toleren unos a otros y se perdonen si alguno tiene queja contra otro. Así como el Señor los perdonó, perdonen también ustedes.”

El perdón no es sólo algo que hacemos por los demás. Nosotros lo hacemos por nosotros mismos, para mejorar y

seguir adelante. Es algo que hacemos por la fe, de obediencia.

Not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but

encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Fellowship is important for spiritual growth. We are part of the Body of Christ (1Cor. 12:12-30) and we cannot walk apart from the Body and

grow.

Get Involved!Growth Through Service

A life of service should be a priority in our spiritual life. If we serve God from the very

beginning we will mature and grow (Matthew 20:26-28).

Serving makes us “greater” (growth) and “first”(mature).

We are called to serve God. Can you name a few ways that you can serve God? Remember that just going to church isn’t exactly “serving” God.

Serving God is a choice we need to make. Read Joshua 24:15

nosotros le servimos a Dios, iremos madurando y creciendo (Mateo

(madurez).

Fuimos llamados para servir a Dios. ¿Puede nombrar maneras en como

puede servir a Dios? Acuérdate que ir a la Iglesia nada mas no es “servir” a

Dios.

Sirviéndole a Dios es una decisión que tenemos que

“No me avergüenzo del evangelio, porque es poder de Dios para salvación de todo aquel

“Pero recibiréis poder cuando haya venido sobre vosotros el Espíritu Santo, y me seréis

El Evangelismo no es sólo el resultado de nuestra fe y de nuestro crecimiento espiritual, sino también

es un parte vital de perfeccionar nuestro crecimiento. El Evangelismo es catalizador para el crecimiento

espiritual

Crecemos en el Señor cuando compartimos esa misma fe,

esperanza y amor con los demás.

La fe sin obras esta muerta (Santiago 2:17).

La fe se perfecciona por nuestras obras (Santiago 2:22)

Evangelism is not only the result of our faith and of our spiritual growth, it is also a vital part of

perfecting our growth. Evangelism is a catalyst for spiritual growth.

We grow in the Lord when we share that same faith, hope and

love with others.

Faith without works is dead (James 2:17)

Faith is perfected by our works (James 2:22).
