The whole of nature is for the soul, not the soul for nature. The soul, know­ing itself, molds, shapes, and manipu­lates nature and its manifestations. It is master of life and the conditions of life rather than being mastered by them. It is for that reason that one must work as a master not as a slave. The things they do they must do with certainty; the things they think, the things they say, must be with a certainty, the knowing, that they will be, that they are without fail.

Real existence, knowledge and love, are eternally connected with each other. Love, not human love, but the Divine love which encompasses all things of all na­ture and qualities. We are told much of the duties that we have . to each other, to mankind, to the world, and to God. The duty that we have is to accomplish the thing that is at hand, to the best of our ability. Each soul has brought about the results that manifest in his life. Each soul must meet and overcome

those results. If by a word or an action we can aid another soul to overcome, then it is well to do so, but to do a thing merely because we feel that we are obli­gated to do it is not really doing it, it is only submitting to force.

Our attitude towards our friends must be one of tolerance, recognizing both their strength and their weaknesses, catering to neither or giving in to neither, but meeting them always upon a level of equilibrium and balance.

Our attitude towards our work, what­ever it might be, material, or spiritual, must be that we do the best that we can every moment that we are engaged in that work. In doing that work we must always have a consciousness of success, because the consciousness of success manifests success, the consciousness of failure manifests failure. We should be detached rather than have attachment to persons and things, the more we can maintain the attitude of detachment or non-attachment the more impersonal we can become toward things and the less they effect us. We can carry the law of harmony into our business and material life because the great laws of the Divine manifest, not alone in the spiritual,but in the mater­ial as well.

We have to learn to determine right from wrong and in determining right from wrong, be able to exercise our power of discrimination so that we do always the right thing at the right time. This can only be brought about by an attunement between man and his higher self. As long as man is bound to the lower self alone, that long he is unable to manifest the equilibrium, the discrimination, the non­attachment, the wisdom, that equilibrium to make his life a wonderful and a happy thing. For life and living are, in them­selves, an expression of the Divine.

Man and this world were crested for the purpose of bringing into existence the Divine harmony, peace and Icve, ir. the material plane of existence. The higher laws of health are the result of this harmony. Illness, sickness and dis­ease are the result of causes created by the individual.

We must realize that man is a God- man and that God is a man. Did not the Master Jesus say, "is it not written ye are Gods and if it is written to whom the word comes then the Scriptures shall not be broken," and if to us there comes a word, balance, equilibrium, God, we become one with that Divine pcwer and manifest it in the material world so

that we can be the reflection of all of the harmony, of peace, and love of the Divine existence.

Dear Students and Friends:The weather in Shamballa has been

dominated by a cold gusty wind in these waning days of January. When the wind calms down, the warm sunshine reminds us that Spring is approaching, especially so when the temperature reaches up into the sixties.

The residents of Shamballa are busy as usual, with many and varied activities. The Staff here at Headquarters has been especially busy with the heavy corres­pondence of the first of the year. Many of our students like to send their con­tributions at this time for the entire year. This saves us bookkeeping and is very acceptable to us. Again may we sug­gest that you make all checks and address all letters to the Brotherhood cf the White Temple.

As we progress with our lessons in all three Units of Study; College, Church and Fellowship of the Avatar, it is so necessary to always be positive and harmonious. The habit of negative think­ing must be transmuted into positive orderly thinking in accordance xtfith Di­vine Law. In that x̂ ay x̂ e are transmut­ing the negation in our consciousness to an Illumined Consciousness.

Many people think that when they become illumined, a great flash of Light will descend on them and then forever more, they are an Illumined Consciousness. That might be so, but how many lifetimes has such a person spent before this occur­rence, in slowly chiseling away concepts of darkness, ignorance and negative thought forms.

We must realize that we and we alone are responsible for ourselves. We love to lay the blame on someone else but the "Law of Cause and Effect’* works exactly. Let us look within, find our weaknesses and transmute them into fortresses of Light and Strength. The Light within w7ill not be hid. It shines forth with the Splendor of God. It speaks with words of Wisdom and of Joy. It brings beauty to the Counte­nance. The Light of God in the Conscious­ness distills within the individual great love for all persons and all things, so that Divine Justice and Mercy reigns supreme in their lives. Because they have made the Foundation of their being the solid rock of Truth, they are able to walk hand in band with God.
