Introduction Spirit of Valencia Offshore Powerboat Racing Team I acknowledge that it is difficult in these times for you to support this innovative project but I ask that you do everything possible to obtain support for our team. The future development within Spain of Motor Marine Sports, the industry, combined with the education and training benefits would be most rewarding. The possibilities of Spain as a Motor Marine Sporting capital being promoted across the globe are potentially high with a realization of high rewards. The promotional benefits for Spain are global. As described within the presentations drafted for TOTAL Sponsorship the costing quoted to initiate the team is one million Euros for five years. (Title sponsor for 3 years and top sponsor for the remaining 2 years) Our team would only require the initial set up costs for the first year. In that time period our Team Marketing Agencies will have a better opportunity of finding future sponsorship that would result in our future capabilities of the team, along with the team’s hospitality programs and our facilities within the Juan Carlos I Marina, will provide a world class exclusive experience. We would be able to run two competitive race boats. One new, one second hand but both branded exactly the same. (Powerboat Racing Car concept) We would create real life opportunities to compete at the highest level through our exclusive training and challenges program. To create interest and support for our project the team would offer exclusive Hospitality, Incentive team building and motivational days, adding even more financial stability for the team for the future. This would draw interest from some of the biggest companies from Spain and throughout the world to attend and support our team, Providing security and self sufficiency for the team for our long term future. It is necessary to consider how the various Valencia government departments can best promote Spain to the wider world, thus extending the acknowledged success of the Americas Cup event hosted by Valencia. Unfortunately the potential of the Americas cup port after the Americas cup event has yet still to be realised years later. As Spain’s only full time professional powerboat racing team, We have a number of motor marine manufacturers already interested in supporting us once initiated. We also have their support for a youth development scheme running alongside the Spirit of Valencia, supported by all Real Club Nauticos nationally. We have possible access to a number of smaller craft (five metre ribs) perfectly designed for training, (We may even find the next Fernando Alonso of Motor Marine world for Spain). A personal goal would be to invite local schools to the marinas we visit for the Challenge, with the intention of inspiring the youth of today for tomorrow through developing long term associations with the team and their local marina, providing regular weekend activities.

Introduction Spirit of Valencia Offshore Powerboat Racing Team

I acknowledge that it is difficult in these times for you to support this innovative project but I ask that you do everything possible to obtain support for our team.

EDUCATION AND AWARENESS Effective Education Visits The need to attract young people to the careers offered with the marine and engineering sectors has never been greater. The answer is quite simply to reach out and inspire the youth of today. Young people today face a wider range of career opportunities than ever before. If the marine and engineering sectors wish to attract high calibre personnel it is important to engage with young people at an early stage to ensure that they have the knowledge base and experience to consider opportunities within this field in an informed manner. This will provide the team and the Port of Valencia access to fresh innovative ideas through original thinking from young people enabling us to share in their enthusiasm. Example A Scheme called “The Schools Marine Challenge”

Apprenticeships for the Marine Industry Our apprenticeships are aimed at young people between the ages of 16-24 who have the proven ability to gain high level skills and qualifications. The apprenticeship for the Spirit of Valencia powerboat team will offer opportunities to learn the basic skills that employers require. Interpreting drawings, selecting materials, hand tools also practical hands on and problem solving for example. At the same time they will develop everyday skills that employers rely upon such as, working with others and information technology. These students could possibly be a future integral part of the Spirit of Valencia team as a Pilot, Navigator, Engineer or Logistic support. These are just some of the opportunities that will be provided collectively.

I have lived in Spain since 2003. In 2006 I initiated the concept of the Spirit of Valencia. Stemming from my passion founded in my youth for powerboat racing. My guide, mentor and trainer were Steve Curtis MBE, 8 times World Champion class 1. This encouraged me to create the concept for which I am promoting now. Steve Curtis will unreservedly endorse every aspect of my proposal. Restrictions I found in my youth, the sport was solely for the privileged few. I wish to change this conception and create and promote all Motor marine sports; power boat, Jet Ski etc competitions which are accessible to all. With your help to inspire to create the worlds most elite motor marine sport centre in the world “The Valencia Racing Club” for all types of motor marine sport. We have available contact with over 200 motor marine competitions with an invitation to visit Valencia to hold competitive races or finals in support of their relative competitions.

Whether it be our world class exclusive hospitality facility within the Americas Cup Sports area to promote business to invest in Valencia for the their Team Building, Conferences, Entertainment, Hospitality and promotions, or simply to use the Valencia Port facilities for testing and training, they will receive the highest support that would be available from Valencia City. Not to mention the availability of our world class motor marine qualifications centre to gain Support also full qualification to pilot and maintain crafts of all sizes. My aim and passion (since 2006) has always been to establish the Valencia Racing Club to support a professional racing team representing Valencia Spain. With the assistance and backing of the University of Valencia utilising their mechanical engineering and new technologies departments to provide a world class platform to help us achieve competitive excellence. This would also provide technological excellence through marine engineering and technological courses through the university. Additionally, our team will provide a Motor Marine Mechanical Engineering academy for aspiring technicians, with on the job training from our base within the Juan Carlos 1 Valencia Marina.
