Chapel Notes, by Cyan B., Guest Contributor to the Son Times

Chapel Speaker: Pastor Brent Molskness

Build Your Life With Love

The pastor who spoke to us Wednesday was Pastor Brent Molskness from Mission Bible Church. The main

theme was about being boastful and how love doesn’t go with boastfulness. To start off his sermon, he read the

Bible verse from I Corinthians, “Love is patient and kind, love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does

not demand its own way.” Pastor Molskness gave us a list of three negative things about boastfulness. The first

was being overly into self. This means we are too involved in ourselves and we don’t care about anyone. The next

one is lifting yourself up while tearing others down. This means that we are making ourselves feel good by

tearing each other down and making fun of each other. The last one is being overly possessive. This means that

maybe you love this person so much that you are not letting the person have any other friends or relationships.

These three things are negatives of being boastful. God does not want us to be boastful because love is giving

ourselves up to others. Remember, God wants us to love our neighbors as ourselves.

VOLUNTEER FOR VOLLEYBALL & SOCCER TOURNAMENT Trinity Christian School is hosting the ICC volleyball and soccer tournament, Oct. 17-19. The elementary and

junior high girls’ volleyball tournament runs Thursday and Friday afternoon and evening, and continues

throughout the day Saturday. The soccer tourney will be Saturday only. There is a lot of activity involved in

supporting this tournament and the demand for volunteers is great! We need help with admissions,

concessions, hall monitors, line judges and more. Can you please help? This is a great weekend opportunity for

volunteer hours. Please contact Mrs. Janine McDavitt at 815-577-9310, ext. 66, or email

[email protected] if you are interested in helping out. You may also contact Mr. V at 815-577-9310,

ext. 51, or email [email protected]. Thank you!

PASTOR APPRECIATION BREAKFAST & CHAPEL Trinity Christian School will take time to honor all of our wonderful pastors, here, Wednesday, Oct. 30,

7:30 - 9:30 a.m. This is going to be a special day to celebrate them and show how much we appreciate their ministry.

We will begin the morning with an appreciation breakfast for pastors and invite them

to stay and attend a special Disney Toy Story themed chapel service led by our first

graders and dedicated to our pastors. Two invites were sent home with the youngest

child to give to their pastors. Please check your student’s folders or backpack. If you

need more invitations we do have them in the front office. Please help us spread the

word and show our TCS love to those in the ministry. Any questions? Please contact

Mrs. Toya Thomas at 815-577-9310, ext. 54, or [email protected].

If your student is arriving to school late, please park

your car and walk him or her in to the building, then

sign the student in at the main office. Thank you.

JOIN PTM’s FALL FEST COMMITTEE Bring your great ideas and be part of the committee that plans, sets up and cleans up this year’s Fall Family Fun Night! The event takes place Saturday, Nov. 2, 5 -7 p.m.

at TCS. If you’re interested in helping out, come to PTM’s next meeting Monday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. at Panera on Caton Farm and Rt. 59. Volunteers make these fun school events possible so TCS families have time to bond and build relationships, so come be a part of putting together this fall event!

SHOP AND BENEFIT TWICE FOR MULTIPLE BENEFITS Benefit Twice is once again supporting TCS! What is Benefit Twice? It is a

faith-based retail outlet that sells new, brand-name clothing and merchandise

at prices significantly less than other retail stores. And it is close to Trinity, in the

Shorewood Commons Shopping Center just north of Vertin, near Target and

other retailers (1101 Brook Forest Ave).

The store is called Benefit Twice because you benefit as a customer buying

products at terrific prices. And the majority of profits will be given to starting

new churches. This year, instead of shopping during specific dates, we can

shop anytime on any date. Please, just let them know you are from TCS!!

Thank you and happy shopping!

PICTURE RETAKE DAY IS MONDAY, OCTOBER 21 Did your student miss picture day or would you like a retake? Picture retake day is MONDAY, Oct. 21, first

thing in the morning until 10 a.m. Please notify the front office if your student will have a retake done.

Students are allowed to wear casual non-uniform tops and uniform bottoms to school that, day but must change back

into their uniform tops after their picture has been taken. (Girls may wear dresses, but must change into a uniform after

pictures). If you are having your student retake his or her photo, please be sure to send the picture packet with your un-

wanted photos in to school with your student on Monday.

ORDER NOVEMBER HOT LUNCH BY OCTOBER 14 Order November hot lunch through Oct. 14. All orders must be placed and paid for by the end of the day. The menu is available online and will include orders for Thanksgiving Luncheon. See the article on page 1 for Thanksgiving Luncheon information.
