Oil Spill Kits designed to respond to OPA 90 and IMO/MARPOL 73/78 regulations.

With these kits on board you are assured of fulfilling any safety and environmental regulation applicable globally.

There are several regulations circulating and in short they are:

Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (33 CFR Part 155) or OPA90 requires oil carrying vessels in U.S. waters to have oil spill cleanup equipment on board for on-deck spills.

Vessels with an overall length of 400 feet or less are required to be able to contain and remove on-deck spills of atleast 7 barrels (294 gallons; 1,100 litres).

Oil tankers and barges with an overall length of 400 feet or more have an increased requirement of being able toclean up spills of 12 barrels (504 gallons; 1,900 litres).

Vessels carrying oil as secondary cargo must have a spill kit on board to contain and remove on-deck spills of at least1.5 barrels ( = 63 Gallons = 238 Liters).

According to several IMO resolutions "all ships should have the capability to contain and clean up minor deck and overside spills".

Regulation 26 of Annex I of MARPOL 73/78 requires that oil tankers of 150 tons gross tonnage or more and all ships of400 tons gross tonnage or more carry an approved Shipboard Oil Pollution Plan (SOPEP).

The International Convention on Oil Pollution Preparedness, Response and Co-operation, 1990, also requires such aplan for certain ships. These plans all includes an Oil Spill Response Kits on board.

In July 2002, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency amended the Oil Pollution Prevention regulation at Title 40 of theCode of Federal Regulations, Part 112, (40 CFR 112).

Subparts A through C of the Oil Pollution Prevention regulation are often referred to as the “SPCC Rule” because theydescribe the requirements for certain facilities to prepare, amend and implement Spill Prevention, Control and Counter-measure (SPCC) Plans.

SPCC Plans are a cornerstone of EPA’s strategy to prevent oil spills from reaching our nation’s waters, and they ensurethat facilities put in place containment and other countermeasures that would prevent oil spills that could reach navigablewaters.

Under EPA’s Oil Pollution Prevention regulation, facilities must detail and implement spill prevention and control meas-ures in their SPCC Plans.

The Drain Guard is installed in a catch basin and is held in place by the drain’s grate.

Stormwater runoff enters the Drain Guard and is directed toward the pouch by a skirt made of anon-woven polypropylene, needle-punched, geotextile material. This fabric filters the pollutantsfrom the water stream as it passes over and flows through the material.

Additionally, each Drain Guard is equipped with numerous "Filter Strips" made of "X-TEX", aunique filter material made of recycled synthetic fibers. X-TEX is extremely effective in capturingand removing hydrocarbons and other pollutants from stormwater.

OverviewThe detection of petroleum products, including crude oil, diesel/fuel oil, motor oil, lube oil, gasoline, food oils etc.near the water surface is widely required in industrial and environmental applications.

TechniqueThe SpillWatch sensor is installed downward looking several meters above water level. The sensor technology isbased on fluorescence excitation and detection.

ActionIn case of a spill, the SpillWatch provides an instant warning, enabling users to activate counter measures, e.g.shutting off pumps or valves and notify personnel via a variety of interfaces and wireless options. SpillWatch sen-sors can be used as stand-alone monitors or within a network of strategically mounted sensors interconnected bythe SpillMaster software.

NEW OIL IN WATER MONITORING BUOY

Compact and rugged buoy system is designed for short term moni-toring (up to 24 months). The lightweight and low-cost buoy is easilyhandled by one person in the field, weighing just 25kg, and beingonly 60cm in diameter and 2.0m in overall length.

Detection of hydrocarbons in the water column is performed by asubmersible sensor. Sensors are available for both crude oil andrefined fuels, and are protected from collision damage within the ro-bust central structure.

The system itself is powered by two 5W solar panels, and is equipped with battery backup, navigation and warninglights, and any other markings as necessary. A range of telemetry options are available (UHF/VHF, GSM, GPRS,Satellite), selected to suit both the location and application requirements.

The range of multiple corers are simple, reliable corers for collecting multiple samples of virtually undisturbed sedi-ment, including the sediment/water interface, and overlying supernatant water. A range of models is available to sam-ple up to 12 cores in a single deployment.
