Next to its successful and widely distributed lighting and furniture lines Aqua specializes in site specific custom solutions for the contract market. The clients' vision and needs are integrated from conception to installation.The Atelier's approach is solution driven, not only with regards to design but also with regards to technical issues, from engineering to electricity and installation on location.

Neben den erfolgreichen und unverkennbaren Leuchten- und Möbelkollektionen profiliert sich Aqua mit der Gestaltung und Ausführung von Spezialanfertigungen.Die Ideen und Vorstellungen des Kunden bilden von der Konzeption bis zur Ausführung und Installation die Basis der Zusammenarbeit.Aqua's Design berücksichtig insbesondere ästhetische Ansprüche und eine perfekte Verarbeitung hochwertiger Materialien, aber auch lichttechnische-, elektrische- sowie montage- und installationsrelevante Aspekte.

The outset of a custom project usually is the client’s brief and plans of the space in question. There are major differences in how these projects are approached; in some cases the client has a clear vision of how the final design should look like and Aqua’s team develops the product according the client’s idea. In other cases it is up to the Atelier’s design and development team to propose an original design and then develop it further into a product.

“Custom products are always archetypes which are designed and produced for a specific project and space. Emphasis is on aspects of design, aesthetics, materialization and the sensible merging with the architecture of the space. Nevertheless, installation, maintenance, running costs and integration into the given (electrical) systems have to be considered as well. When working with Aqua I can rely on a professional team that is competent with regards to all of these aspects and can guarantee to meet the deadline.”

Am Anfang einer Spezialanfertigung stehen die Anfrage des Kunden und Pläne der Räumlichkeiten. Projekte werden unterschiedlich angegangen. In manchen Fällen hat der Kunde eine klare Vorstellung wie das Design aussehen soll und Aqua’s Team entwickelt das Produkt basierend auf der gestalterischen Idee des Kunden. In anderen Fällen wird das Design ganz dem Team von Aqua überlassen und der Kunde wünscht ein Gesamtkonzept.

Im Vordergrund stehen selbstverständlich alle Aspekte der Gestaltung, Ästhetik und Materialisierung und der sensible Umgang im Zusammenspiel mit der Architektur. Gerade bei Spezialanfertigungen dürfen aber Fragen wie Montagefreundlichkeit, Unterhalt, Betriebskosten und die Integration in die Systemsteuerung nicht unterschätzt werden. “Our creative process begins with the observation and understanding of the space and our client’s needs. We then explore the elements, deciding on the proper mood and feel whilst working within our design language. The piece is clean and modern while retaining Aqua’s integrity. Throughout the design and developement process, communication with the client is essential.”

After approval of the final design and with development and technical tests well in progress, production of the final product may start.Despite the Atelier's growth in the manufacturing and distribution process, all products are handmade by skilled artisans with utmost care and respect for Aqua's heritage. As well as design, research and development, production is also completed in-house.

Nach der Reflektion mit dem Kunden und dessen Zustimmung zum Konzeptentwurf erfolgen detaillierte Studien zum Design und der technischen Umsetzung. Sind diese erfolgreich abgeschlossen, geht die Spezialanfertigung in Produktion. Obwohl die Produktion und Distribution des Atelier's massgeblich gewachsen sind und sich heute ungleich komplexer darstellen, werden alle Produkte mit grösster Sorgfalt und Respekt individuell und von Hand gemacht. So wie das Design und die Entwicklung wird auch die ganze Produktion im hauseigenen Atelier ausgeführt.

rechts: handgefärbte Seide wird über die Metallkonstruktion aufgezogen.
