IMPACT OF MEDIA ON STUDENTS
Media is everywhere; it has become a part of our daily life. The media plays a dominantrole in the learning process. Its impact is vast in shaping the life of an individual. Mediahas the potential to shape personalities, change the way we perceive and understand theworld and our immediate reality. Many universities and research institutions are alsolinked. They are able to exchange experiences, novelties and often they start new projectstogether. If they are linked, they can save time and money. You can create new socialcontacts all over the world, which you could not do so easy without the internet.Peopletoday are better informed and more enlightened thanks to thriving press freedom andexpanding information discrimination here and in many parts of the world.Media has contributed greatly in ways that both enlighten and enrich society , but in other ways it has deteriorated and perplexed it. It depends on how the youth using the internetas the global information. It also much influenced by the moral background of the youth.Youth with good moral back will take very much advantage information from the internetto enrich their life. But if the youth have a bad moral background, internet will destroytheir life.Though media's role is to inform, educate and entertain, it also corrupts andexploits, contributing to the moral degradation of society.
Before blaming the media , we go to take a good look at our own notions and concepts of things. The media and the society go hand in hand. it's something like 'you scratch my
back, and i scratch youth. The Media ought to be used as a tool for solving, promoting and improving YOUTHMATTERS, so that the youths can be well oriented and educated on the roles they areexpected to play in the very near future. My opinion is that the media should focus on educative programmes that would educatethe minds of young people and give children the right to express themselves through themedia.

WHAT ARE THE NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE EFFECTS OF MEDIA ON
SOCIETY?
It can change opinions because they have access to people and this gives it a lot of strength. This strength can either be used constructively by educating the people or it can
be used destructively by misleading the innocent people. Power of the media can transform the whole society especially in the developingcountries it can be used as a 'weapon of mass destruction'. But I think the most importantuse of media is to educate the people about the basic human rights.
The dilemma of the developing countries is that people are not fully aware of their basicrights and if they know, they don't know about what to do and where to go. They don'tknow their collective strength. Even they don't know how to protest and what is theimportance of protests. Media should portray the facts. They should not transform thereality. Education and discipline is key to progress. This is the difference between a nation and acrowd. Media men have access to people and they have an audience. Their programshave an impact and people listen to them. That's why they are more responsible for the betterment of the society. They should work to educate the people, to help the people and to liberate the people and to empower the
people Media plays a very important role in the building of a society. Media has changed thesocieties of world so much that we can't ignore its importance. First of all we shouldknow what the media is. Media is a source of information or communication. Media includes sources like print media and electronic media. Newspapers, magazinesand any other form, which is written or printed, is included in print media and inelectronic, media radio, television and Internet etc. are included. When there are so many channels and newspapers we cannot ignore its importance in thesociety. Media has lot of responsibility on its shoulders as today's society is very muchinfluenced by the role of media. We believe in what media projects to us. We change our minds according to the information provided through it.

In the past when the media was not so strong we were quite ignorant about what ishappening around us. But today we come to know very quickly what is happening aroundus. We have the access to all the international news channels that provide us the facts andfigures. Considering this fact that media has the power to influence society, it should know itsresponsibility towards society. It should feel its responsibility to educate the society in a
positive way. It should be giving us fair analysis and factual information Media plays a vital role in every one's life. In today's modern society media has become a
part and parcel of our life. Its duty is to inform, educate and entertain. It is considered asthe 4th pillar of our society. They put their lives in danger like in times of terrorist attacks or natural calamity just toinform us about it. Media is a bridge between the governing bodies and general public. It
is a powerful and flexible tool that influences the public to a great extent. Media is voiceof the voiceless and a great force in building the nation The newspapers can play a very vital role in the reconstruction and regeneration of anation by highlighting and pin-pointing the social, economic and moral evils in thesociety. Can be helpful in eradicating these evils from the society. They can also start propaganda against the economic evils like short-weights andmeasures, smuggling. Black-marketing income tax evasion hoarding corruption and
bribery. THUS the newspapers can help greatly in the nation- building activities.
Newspapers provide some material for every type of interest. They give us stories, thecrossword puzzles, the post page, the expert's comments on certain affairs of national andinternational importance. Some pages are meant for women and children as well. Newspapers also provide usinformation about various matters and things through advertisements. They can help theadvertisers to boost up their sale and the consumers to consume the new goods. In other words, newspapers provide a wholesome intellectual food, trade contacts andalso job opportunities. It is through the newspapers, many a time that marriages arearranged, and lost things are found. People pay homage to their dead relatives through theobituary notes in the newspapers. In short, newspapers contain all what is needed and desired by every person relating toany field of life. Newspapers play manifold character in almost all fields of life and are
becoming more and important day by day. Education plays a vital role in the all round

development of the society. Educated masses help in the development of a civilizedsociety wherein they carry on their activities smoothly and hassle-free. People in a educated society communicate with each other, understand each others
problems and provide solutions. An educated society, city, state, and country lay thefoundation of a great world. Education plays the biggest role in society because withoutit, we wouldn't have doctors, lawyers, etc...Plus, some people who don't have educationusually end up as delinquents. We commend the people of Bong County for many contributions to the Press Union of Liberia as it celebrated its 45th Anniversary in Gbarnga. We say Bravo! EFFECTS OF MOBILE PHONES
Nowadays, the popularity of mobile phones has brought about a lot of convenience but atthe meanwhile a variety of problems as well, such as social, medical and technical
problems. However, I do not think these disadvantages will outweigh the advantages brought by cell phones. In this essay, I would like to analyse these three issues in order tosupport my viewpoint.
First of all, almost everything that changed our lifestyle a lot will also cause some social problems. Mobile phones are not out of expectation. Speaking loudly on the phone in public areas, such as schools, libraries and hospitals appears to be very impolite andoffensive. What is worse , some students utilize their cell phones as an effective cheatingtools in examinations in which they can send and receive answers by texting each other.
Nevertheless, it is not impossible to solve these problems, as long as some regulationsand rules can be effectively implemented.
It is also worth mentioning that some harmful effects on our health are lethal. It has been proved that overusing of the electronic devices including mobile phones could lead tohigher possibility of suffering hearing loss and even cancers, although the further investigation are needed.Another debatable problem is about techniques. There is panic among people that their conversation can be intercepted by the third party. This possibility exists all the time. Buta more efficient and reliable system can also be invented to guarantee the privateinformation of users.
Moreover, the mobile phone has become a dispensable multifunctional tools in people'sdaily life. Not only used for communication, but it also functions as an Internet browser,a music player , a personal organiser and so forth.
In conclusion, nothing can be overused without side effects. The contribution of themobile phone to our modern society is prominent and people's dependence on it is
irreversible, although it has a number of problems that should be well handled.

ROLE OF YOUTH IN NATION BUILDING
India is a big country with a large population. It is estimated that Indias present
population is about 65 crores. Those between the age of 15 to 35 form more than 50
percent of the total population. For our purposes we count them all as the youth. These
comprise students, employees, workers, farmers and persons from various professions
including the unemployededucated or otherwise. These young people constitute a large
force. They are energetic, enthusiastic and full of zeal. Unfortunately a large number of
them are without any direction. It is dangerous to allow them to remain idle, as it would
increase their frustation. A large number of them are capable, devoted, dedicated
idealists and are fond of work. Their frustation is a result of their being without any
worthwhile job. It is a great national wastage if these energetic hands and brains are not
provided with some srot of work to meet the needs of the nation. No country can permit
sueh wastage. What is needed is that they should be taken into confidence and given a
directionsome constructive work. This massive manpower can do wonders provided its
enthusiasm is harnessed for development work. Indian youth have . never lagged behind
when called upon to meet a challenge. It is for the national leaders to play their part
by mobilising their abilities and providing them with a direction.
Let there be no doubt about their strength, power and capability. Their counterparts have
changed the governments in their own countries. It was the youth of Indonesia who
overthrew President Soekarno. The massive youth movement in Czechoslovakia
succeeded againt the military invasion on their country. The recent history of Cambodia,
Cuba, France and Pakistan provide evidences of their invincible force. Even in our own
country before partition the youth played a very inspiring role in the freedom movement.

After independence too their power has changed the fate of several state governments in
the recent past. The Gujarat and Bihar agitations are examples of the youth power.
If we exclude the youth, the rest of the population of India will comprise old people and
children. They cannot be called the real manpower of the nation. So we may say that if
the youth of the country are not enthused to devote their energies to the task of national
reconstruction, the whole manpower of the nation is being wasted.
The task of nation building is enormous and can be divided into many phases and
compartments. It has some work for everybody. All the young people may be involved in
this work. They may be assigned jobs according to their capacity and capability. First of all they should be made to understand a specific project and its importance to the society
and also the part they are expected to play to make it a success. They are sure to work
hard for its fulfilment. They have the resources, guts and imagination to explain it to the
people in detail and make it a success, They will feel more than satisfied by the
realisation that they have been assigned a role in the nation-building efforts. This
realisation will encourage them to put their best into it.
There is another factor : whatever is done by the government for nation-building affects
the whole societythe young and the old alike. At least the former think that they are
being denied the right of their participation in that task. It would be prudent to associate
them with all such programmes as concern them. Such a step would satisfy their ego.
It is not very difficult to mobilise the youth for nation-building. Once these programmes
have succeeded in firing their imagination, more than enough resources of energy will be
forth-coming to achieve the targets. And once they are genuinely involved, and their
interest in these programmes is aroused, they would be prepared to give their best to their
quick implementation.

There can be a large number of schemes, projects and programmes wherein their total
involvement will bring quicker and better results. They can play a pivotal role in the
socio-economic regeneration of the society. There are many evil practices in our society.
If the youth is associated in a drive against these practices, the results may be much more
satisfactory. There may be schemes connected with the raising of the level of production
in agriculture. The youth may be assigned the job of dissemination of knowledge for
better farming, new techniques and proper use of fertilisers and pesticides. What is
required is that they may be given adequate training in these tasks. In a drive against
economic offences, their energy may be used in moulding public opinion in favour of eradication and prevention of such offences. The youth may work successfully as an arm
of the administration in the implementation of governmental programmes aimed at
fighting against these and other maladies. Another field wherein their energy may be
gainfully employed is the task of adult education and universalisation of education. Being
given a little dose of incentive encouragement and support, they may take over the great
responsibility of fulfilling the targets fixed by the government. Their services may
similarly be utilised for preventing and fighting offences like smuggling, black-marketing
and hoarding. They can at least create public opinion against those who indulge in such
unfair practices. Cooperatives may be encouraged, through them for creating parallel
marketing facilities to render the antisocial practices ineffective. What is needed is that
we repose faith in their capacity and capability.
By enlisting the cooperation and involvement of the massive youth army, the government
will on the one hand be successful in mobilising idle man-power, and on the other hand
these young people will be saved from falling a prey to such elements, as utilise them for
their own narrow selfish ends. By employing these persons in some socially useful work,
-

the possibilities of demonstrations, violence, unrest and turmoil will be largley
minimised. It is therefore, in the national interest that these young men are attracted
towards some sort of developmental activities.
Such involvement of the young people would generate a sense of pride and self-
confidence in them, provided it is accorded adequate appreciation. It would raise tfieir
morale as well. At the same time the sense of patriotism and of being useful to the society
would inhibit them from going
astray. It would also help develop in them a nationalist outlook. Such a step would speed
up the process of socio-economic regeneration and democratic decentralisation. Our government spends a large amount of money on a number of organisations that are
given charge of implementation of various schemes and programmes concerning national
development. Involvement of the youth and their organisations would cost less in terms
of money as well.
The young people may be inspired and encouraged to adopt villages or other suitable
units of operation, where they may cancentrate on the improvement of physical and social
environment. This will lead to socio-economic progress and help to channelise the
energies, enthusiasm and idealism of the youth in the task of nation-building. It is certain
that the youth will make full use of the diverse opportunities offered to them. If would
make the task of nation-building easier and quicker.

YOUTH IN NATIONS DEVELOPMENT
Who are the youths? They are the people whose age is above the teenage limit but not
more than 30 years. People that fall within this age bracket have a great role to play in
building a society but alas, the reverse has been the case in my country Nigeria. The
youth responsibility towards national development cannot be over-emphasised given the
fact that they are the backbone of any society that wishes to prosper in terms of economy
and culture. The energy, the agility, the swiftness of thought and indeed, the physical
manpower are the characteristics that make the youthful age more interesting than any
stage of human existence. Youth population is the life wire of any society and the force
behind a developed nation. Culturally, the youth are the inheritors of the society heritage
and custom. Therefore, if the skill of this agile population is positively harnessed, a
nation can be said to be on the path
of greatness and development. However, my heart bleeds seeing the negative image our
youths have created in the area of organised crime and other vices, which have
contributed to the bad press Nigeria has been given among the comity of nations.
The Internet, which is one of the greatest inventions in human history, has been convertedto an avenue to scam unwary people of their hard-earned fortunes. It is no news that
Nigerias unemployed youths have found solace in internet fraud. Our youths have talents
but the skills were channeled to bad ventures. The youths may not have been blamed for
the low in which they are found, though. When bad leaders are (s)elected into public
office, the end results would always be calamitous for this otherwise promising
population. The years of maladministration from successive government has a direct
result in poor management of youth population, which in turn resulted into a low
intelligence quotient for which our youths
are known when it comes to national building. The future of suppose tomorrows
leadership occupants could not even be predicted anymore. The youths are supposed to
-

be the bright and excellent ideas of our society, but they have been employed by our
public officers to commit atrocities against their opponents in order to remain in office.
Politics which suppose to be the vehicle for social engineering has given birth to new set
of destructive generation that sees bombing, kidnapping, advanced fee fraud, robbery,
raping and hooliganism as virtues. Politicians with character and ideology like Sir
Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Alhaji Ahmadu Bello, all of blessed
memory, have disappeared on the surface of the Nigerian landscape. What we have today
is a political class being driven by personal gain, avarice, personal aggrandizement and
destructive principles. Having said that, I think all hands must be on deck in sensitising
our youths towards a
more profitable enterprise, because we are the parents for better tomorrow. The up-
bottom approach which the government has employed to tackle the youth restiveness in
Nigeria should be change if it wants to proffer a lasting solution to the problem.
Education should be best vehicle to drive the youth population to the Promise Land. A
child who grows up to be a youth must be made to get educated on his role towards
development of our land. Nigerian tertiary institutions should not just be degree awardinghouses but be prepared to develop the youths in morals and discipline. Also, politicians
must engage the youths constructively in political process. Government should therefore
evolve a system where political office is seen as service to humanity and not an avenue to
siphon resources. Through this, youths would be equipped to engage the future of the
nation with developmental zeal and see honour in service of society.

WHAT IS DEPRECIATION?
1. A noncash expense that reduces the value of an asset as
a result of wear and tear , age, or obsolescence .Most assets lose their value over time (in other words, they depreciate ), and must be replaced once the end of their useful life is reached. There are several accountingmethods that are used in order to write off an asset's depreciation cost over the period of its useful life .Because it is a non-cash expense ,
depreciation lowers the company's reported earnings whileincreasing free cash flow .

WHAT IS A DEBENTURE?
A debenture is a document that either creates a debt or acknowledges it,
and it is a debt without collateral. In corporate finance , the term is used for
a medium- to long-term debt instrument used by large companies to borrow
money. In some countries the term is used interchangeably with
bond , loan stock or note . A debenture is thus like a certificate of loan or a
loan bond evidencing the fact that the company is liable to pay a specified
amount with interest and although the money raised by the debentures
becomes a part of the company's capital structure, it does not become
share capital .Debentures are generally freely transferable by the debenture holder.
Debenture holders have no rights to vote in the company's generalmeetings of shareholders , but they may have separate meetings or votese.g. on changes to the rights attached to the debentures. The interest paidto them is a charge against profit in the company's financial statements .
