Universal Screenings•Articulation

– All Pre-K and K students will be screened by the Speech Therapists

– Students in grades 1-4 may be referred for a screening by their teachers or parents

•Language Processing

– All Pre-K and K students will be screened by the Speech Therapists

– Students in grades 1-4 must go through the RTI Academic process

Tier 1

• Students with minimal articulation errors

• Teachers will be provided information on easy classroom strategies for the targeted student– For instance, a teacher may be

encouraged to emphasize the “r” in words and model correct language.

• The SLP will conference with the teacher to assess progress.

Tier 2

•Students with some errors on the Universal Screening•Teachers will be given a purple folder with an easy activity to review with the child on a regular basis.•The SLP will meet with the teacher at least every 3 weeks to monitor progress.

Tier 3

•Students who are not making sufficient progress in Tiers 1 and 2•The SLP will work with the student in a quick pull-out program to assist the child with targeted weaknesses.•If the child still is not progressing, an SAT meeting will be held to determine whether more interventions need to be attempted or if the child needs to be referred for special education testing.
