Project Update 

The design team has been mee ng with departments that s ll

need to do some tweaking in order to complete schema c de-

sign on the project. One of the departments that we have been

working closely with is Radiology. There have been several side

mee ngs that have taken place and we are ge ng a lot of good

informa on from the people that will be working directly in this

facility. With this informa on and par cipa on we will be able

to ensure that proper work flow and layout has been taken into

considera on.

In past couple of weeks it has been decided that there needs to

be a LEAN event solely dedicated to the work flow of the build-

ing and specifically to the second floor Virginia Mason mod-

el. This event will be held in December so the design team is

holding off proceeding forward with the interior un l this event

takes place.

We have also received pricing back from subcontractors based

on the SD deliverables. EV & Concord have been comparing

budgets and reconciling differences to ensure that Spectrum is

ge ng an accurate budget update. We have also been gener-

a ng poten al ways to save the project money that will be pre-

sented in the upcoming weeks. On the subject of finances we

have received approval by the Spectrum Health Medical Group &

Spectrum Health Hospital Group Finance Commi ees. With this

approval from both of these commi ees we will be seeking ap-

proval from the SHMG, SHHG & Spectrum Health System Boards.

THANKSGIVING FACTS 

The annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day

Parade tradi on began in the 1920's.

In 1939, President Roosevelt pro-

claimed that Thanksgiving would take

place on November 23rd, not Novem-

ber 30th, as a way to spur economic

growth and extend the Christmas shop-

ping season.

Congress to passed a law on December

26, 1941, ensuring that all Americans

would celebrate a unified Thanksgiving

on the fourth Thursday of November

every year.

Since 1947, the Na onal Turkey Federa-

on has presented a live turkey and two

dressed turkeys to the President. The

President does not eat the live turkey.

He "pardons" it and allows it to live out

its days on a historical farm.

In the US, about 280 million turkeys are

sold for the Thanksgiving celebra ons.

Each year, the average American eats

somewhere between 16 - 18 pounds of

turkey.

Californians are the largest consumers

of turkey in the United States.

Although, Thanksgiving is widely consid-

ered an American holiday, it is also cele-

brated on the second Monday in Octo-

ber in Canada.

Project Forecast 

In the upcoming weeks the design team will be focusing on the civil, core & shell package of the building. With the overall design on some of the floors being dependent on the December LEAN event, the exterior of the building is an area that we can con nue to work on. We will be confirming that the materials at 588 E Lakewood are the same materials that we will be using at the ICC Belt-line. The design team will be working closely with Spectrum to help select the proper team that needs to approve items such as this.

We will also be focusing on the budget over the next few weeks. There is a need to iden fy any po-ten al gaps right now so that they can be forecasted accurately. This is a cri cal task and will be con-trolled throughout the project.
