S&C Cypoxy® InsulatorsIndoor and Outdoor Distribution (4.8 kV through 46 kV)

Conditions of Sale

STANDARD: Seller’s standard conditions of sale set forth in Price Sheet 150 apply.

SPECIAL TO THIS PRODUCT:

INCLUSIONS: S&C Cypoxy Insulators are manufactured utilizing S&C’s proprietary Cypoxy cycloaliphatic epoxy resin system. The Cypoxy material is nontracking, self-scouring, and nonweathering. The standard color for S&C Cypoxy Insulators is gray. No other colors are available.

S&C Cypoxy Insulators are furnished with embedded aluminum inserts, threaded to accommodate standard galvanized bolts. As noted in the appropriate tables on

pages 2 through 6, the sets of inserts at the two ends of S&C Apparatus Insulators are furnished in one of two standard configurations: either in-line or with a 90° offset relative to each other.

EXCLUSIONS: S&C Cypoxy Insulators do not include mounting hardware.

How to Order

1. Obtain the catalog number of the desired Cypoxy Insulator from the tables on pages 2 through 6.

2. Obtain the suffix letter of spacer-adapters, if desired, from the table on page 7.

1 S&C Cypoxy station post insulators meet or exceed the electrical and mechanical-strength requirements established in ANSI Standard C29.9 (1983) for porcelain standard-strength station post insulators.

2 Calculated at nominal voltage.

3 To attain their rated cantilever strengths, Cypoxy Insulators must be mounted on a flat surface that is at least as wide as the diameter of the base of the insulator. Furthermore, the mounting surface must be free of protrusions, such as lumps from galvanizing, to prevent cracking of the insulator when mounting bolts are tightened.

4 These insulators have tapered root diameters. To attain the rated cantilever strength, the end with the larger root diameter (marked “Base”) must be oriented toward the mounting surface.

h Applicable at 34.5 kV where the leakage distance to ground meets user’s requirements.

1 Calculated at nominal voltage.2 To attain their rated cantilever strengths, Cypoxy Insulators must be mounted on a flat surface that is at least as wide as the diameter of the base of the insulator. Furthermore, the mounting surface must be free of protrusions, such as lumps from galvanizing, to prevent cracking of the insulator when mounting bolts are tightened.l This insulator serves as a blade spacer in S&C Regulator Bypass Switches—Type XL. When used alone its nominal rating is 600 volts.

d This insulator has tapered root diameters. To attain the rated cantile-ver strength, the end with the larger root diameter (marked “Base”) must be oriented toward the mounting surface.f For indoor use only, when applied at 34.5 kV.

a Supersedes Catalog Number PA-7193. When replacing Insulator Catalog Number PA-7193, specify one Spacer-Adapter Catalog Number S-86542.
