Advising both vets and farmers on infectious disease problems and health scheme operation remains an important and enjoyable part of his role at Biobest. Principia Formisano, DVM VetScit MRCVS Veterinary Clinical PathologistPia graduated from the Veterinary School of the University of Naples “Federico II” in 2003. She moved to the UK to work in the veterinary diagnostic sector including positions as Veterinary Investigation Officer for the SRUC and as Veterinary Clinical Pathologist

at University of Glasgow and at RDSVS. Pia first joined Biobest in 2008 as part of her RDSVS residency. After completing her clinical pathology residency she re-joined Biobest in 2012 as Veterinary Clinical Pathologist. Sanne Dolieslager, DVM PhD MRCVS Clinpath AdviserSanne joined Biobest Laboratories as a Veterinary Advisor in December 2014 and her main role is to work as part of the clinical pathology team. After graduating from Utrecht University, the Netherlands, in 2008 she continued her studies at the University of Glasgow and gained a PhD in veterinary

microbiology and immunology. Prior to joining Biobest she worked in small animal veterinary practice and has taught undergraduates at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh.

David Kay BSc (Hons) MSc Farm Animal ManagerDavid graduated from The University of Edinburgh with an honours degree in Agricultural Science (Animal Science) in 1999. From a beef and dairy farming background he retains involvement with the family units. Before joining Biobest as the full-time Cattle Health

Scheme Manager in September 2006 he spent several years working in agricultural consultancy and rural development projects. David is the first point of contact for advice on HiHealth Herdcare membership and testing requirements.

The herd is accredited after all breeding females in the herd have had two qualifying tests and no test positivve animals have been detected. To maintain accreditation all neonatal deaths must be investigated.

Rebecca Mearns, MA VetMB CertSHP MRCVS Veterinary AdviserRebecca joined Biobest as Senior Veterinary Advisor in January 2015 to work within the HiHealth Herdcare cattle team but also with a wider remit to offer advice and expertise across the board on ruminants (cattle, sheep and goats). Before starting her role at Biobest

Rebecca was a Veterinary Investigation Officer at Penrith Veterinary Investigation Centre and prior to that worked in a similar role at SAC Edinburgh after having started out in general veterinary practice. She is also a member of the Sheep Veterinary Society Committee and the Goat Veterinary Society.
