These postcards wereavailable to advertisers and thisone promotes Farrow's Bank onthe reverse. Lot: 12London Transport instructionLEAFLETS given to bus driversduring WW2 regarding parking ofthe last buses returning togarages. Some buses wereparked in nearby streets ('nightparks') to as to reduce possiblelosses in the event of the garagebeing bombed overnight. Leafletsare small maps showing thedriver the route to take to thenight park and reminding him tolock the steering wheel. This setis for Barking, Croydon, Dalston,Elmers End, Enfield, Holloway,Putney, Seven Kings andShpeherds Bush garages, alldated 1942. Lot: 19London Transport bus stop routenumber, enamel E-PLATE forGreen Line Coach service 725 toCroydon, Hampton Court,Windsor. The 725 was the firstGreen Line orbital route and ranfrom Gravesend to Windsor. Thisplate may well have been postedon a stop in Bromley. In good, ex-stop condition, the small blemishwas made during themanufacturing process. [1]Estimate: £150.00 - £200.00

Lot: 20LPTB Green Line MAP OFDAILY COACH SERVICES -1933. One of the early editions ofthe Green Line map withreference 1697-10,000-30-6-33.In lightly-used condition with avertical crease, pin-hole andslight foxing. [1]Estimate: £25.00 - £35.00

Lot: 22Bodybuilder's PLATE from a1952/3 4RF4-type, deck-and-a-half airport coach, one of just 65designed and operated byLondon Transport on behalf ofBritish European Airways. Themetal plate is in standard LT stylewith the addition of an AECtriangle and the substitution of'BEA' for 'London Transport'. Inex-vehicle condition. [1]Estimate: £75.00 - £125.00

Lot: 23"Pyrene" brass fire extinguishermarked 'LPTB' as fitted insidedrivers' cabs of LT buses from1933 to 1947. In good, ex-vehiclecondition with one or two dentsand dings. [1]Estimate: £20.00 - £25.00

Lot: 24London Transport RoutemasterBONNET FLEETNUMBERPLATE from RML2337. Thisgreen 'Country Area'Routemaster entered service atNorthfleet garage in 1965 andremained there for the whole ofits service life, retaining itsoriginal identity throughout. It waswithdrawn and stored from 1975,being purchased back fromLondon Country by LT in 1977but was scrapped for spare partsin 1978. The plate was obtainedfrom a Yorkshire scrapyard thatyear. Lot: 27London Bus Driver's andConductor's PSV LICENCEBADGES. Metropolitan TrafficArea badges N53683 andN85025, believed to have firstbeen issued in the 1950s. Both ingood condition, horseshoe fittingson reverse. [2]Estimate: £40.00 - £50.00

Lot: 28London Transport bronze INSETPLATE "London Transport -Private Property" used to markthe boundary of LT property ongarage and Underground stationforecourts etc. Retains theconcrete infill and is in very goodcondition. [1]Estimate: £25.00 - £35.00

Lot: 29London Transport BUS STOPFLAG for bus and Red Arrowservices dating from the early1970s. Double-sided, hollow'boat' type, enamel on steel. Infair condition with some rustychips and scratches. The runnersfor the route number-plates havebeen removed. [1]Estimate: £20.00 - £25.00

Lot: 30London Transport enamelRADIATOR PLATE from aCentral Area red STL-class AECRegent. Vendor advises that thiswas removed from a scrapvehicle at Daniels scrapyard,Rainham in 1950. The enamel isnoticeably thicker than on thepost-war versions of this plate asfitted to the RT class. Minorchipping around the screw-holes,otherwise excellent. (See alsoLots 131, 172, 248 and 487 forother STL items) [1]

Lot: 33London Transport TramwaysFARECHART for ex-MET route21 from Holborn to NorthFinchley/Barnet. Printed 1933,probably the first LT issue andstill in the MET-style format. Lot: 34London TransportUNDERGROUND TIMETABLE1939 Number 1. 268pp bookletcovering all Underground linesfor May 1 - July 2 1939. This wasthe last edition before issueswere suspended for WW2. Lot: 35London Transport bus stop routenumber, enamel E-PLATE forroute 207 destinated Uxbridge.The 207 is a very longstandingroute, having originated as tramroute 7 from Shpeherds Bush toUxbridge, later trolleybus 607and, since 1960, the 207. Thewestern terminus is no longer

Lot: 40Original 1934 London TransportPOSTER by Anna Zinkeisen(1901-76) promoting theAldershot Tattoo "Go by PrivateBus". Size 12 1/2" x 10 1/2"(32cm x 26cm) as pasted toglass vestibules in Undergroundcarriages. Mounted on linen,some professional restoration attop corners, light stains in top-right quarter and minor edge-creasing but overall a goodexample. [1]Estimate: £250.00 - £350.00

Lot: 50London Transport DivisionalMechanical Inspector's CAPBADGE issued in the early 1960sto the staff responsible for drivingstandards on London buses. Aspecial design of badge for thisgroup of around 15-20 staff. It ismade of gold-coloured basemetal with blue and white enamelinfills. In very good condition. [1]Estimate: £150.00 - £200.00

Lot: 51London General POSTERTIMETABLE dated July 1920 forroute 136 from Bromley toWesterham. A large-scaletimetable for posting at termini,bus shelters etc. In fragilecondition with weak folds andsome edge losses but a scarcesurvivor. Lot: 52London Transport bus stop routenumber, enamel E-PLATE forroute 132 destinated Eltham viaCrook Log. This comes fromwhen this route ran as a circularservice from Eltham toBexleyheath and back, running inboth directions and this plate maywell have been situated in Bexleyor Bexleyheath to advisepassengers of the quicker way. Lot: 53London horse-bus driver'sBADGE, also known as a'TICKET' as issued from 1838 to1850, the first type of officialbadge under the regulationsmade by Parliament in 1838. Adouble-sided enamelled badgenumbered 21,059, white onchocolate background, andcarrying the words "StageDriver". Chips around the edgesbut in unusually good conditionand an extremely scarcesurvivor. [1]

Lot: 254"General" cap and lapelBADGES in red enamel. Thesebadges were normally blue and itis thought that the much lesscommon red versions wereissued to crews in the late 1920son the General's coach serviceswhich, in the days before GreenLine, carried red livery. These redbadges would have beenreplaced by Green Line onesfrom 1930 onwards. The largerbadge was worn on the cap andthe smaller one on the lapel. Bothin very good condition. A large-scale, full-colour map, inside linen-cardcovers, which opens out to 30panels with travel information onthe reverse. Shows the Bakerloo,Piccadilly and Hampsteadrailways as well as LUT tramroutes. Lot: 473London General NS-type busbrass CHASSIS PLATE markedchassis no 22399 whichbelonged to NS250, thought tohave been the last NS withLondon Transport. It enteredservice at Palmers Green garagein 1923, was converted to mobilestaff canteen no 4 in 1937 (lateralso numbered 30H) and sawcanteen service at the Aldenhamsite, Aldgate Minories duringWW2 and finally at Hatfieldgarage. It was sold for scrap inearly 1954 and this plate wasacquired at the scrapyard. Theseelaborate plates were situated onthe bulkhead under the canopyon early London buses such asthe B, K, S and NS types. Inexcellent condition still withtraces of red and Chiswick greenpaint. Lot: 498Metropolitan Stage CarriagePLATE number 6,118 off E/1class London tram 1397. Larger,early rectangular enamel on steelplate of the type once affixed bylaw to all London buses, coachesand trams. This plate was lastcarried by E/1-class part-rehabilitated tram 1397 whichwas withdrawn in October 1950and scrapped at Penhall Roadthe next month. These plateshave rarely survived as, intheory, they were to be returnedto the Public Carriage Office forre-issue or scrapping. In ex-vehicle condition with edge chips,red paint traces etc. [1]
